Although the demo numbers for This Is Us beat out the Monday episodes of The Voice, last fall, the latter still drew more total viewers than any other NBC show in the 2016-17 television season. After the nationwide vote based on Monday night’s solo performances and duets, three artists automatically advanced to the finals, the bottom two were automatically eliminated and the singers in fourth, fifth and sixth place had to go up against each other, singing live for the instant save. ‘The Voice’: Semifinalists Sing for America’s Vote

The live semifinals aired on NBC's The Voice on Monday night, with the remaining eight artists singing for spots in season 13’s finals.

Mary J. Blige to Be Honored at Palm Springs Film Fest

Mary J. Blige delivers a standout performance in Dee Rees’ “Mudbound,” and the nine-time Grammy winner is set to be recognized for her supporting role in the Southern epic. Blige will receive the Breakthrough Performance Award at the 2018 Palm Springs International Film Festival (Psiff), a press release has announced.

Mudbound” follows two men as they return home to Mississippi from WWII: Ronsel (Jason Mitchell) and Jamie (Garrett Hedlund). The former is black and the latter is white, and while they bond over their shared experiences abroad, they are welcomed back to very different circumstances in the United States. Blige is unrecognizable in her role as Florence, Ronsel’s mother.

Previous recipients of the Breakthrough Performance Award include Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Jennifer Hudson.

The 29th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival has selected Mary J. Blige for the Breakthrough Performance Award for her performance in “Mudbound.”

The festival’s awards gala, hosted by Mary Hart, will be held Jan. 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Mary J. Blige is a global superstar in the world of music who continues to make her mark as an actress in both television and film,” said Festival Chairman Harold Matzner. “In her current film ‘Mudbound,’ Blige gives a quiet yet fantastic performance as Florence Jackson, a strong woman supporting her sharecropper family in rural Mississippi.”

Past recipients of the Breakthrough Performance Award include Mahershala Ali, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Hudson, Felicity Huffman, Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong’o, David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike and Jeremy Renner. Jennifer Hudson's Ex David Otunga Granted Temporary Custody of Son
Jennifer Hudson's son will remain in the custody of his father, David Otunga, for the time being. 

Otunga was granted temporary custody of David Otunga Jr. from Nov. 26 to Dec. 8 while Hudson is out of town, according to court documents obtained by Et. 

The court granted Otunga's request last Tuesday, also granting Hudson exclusive possession and occupancy of her Illinois home. Otunga will not have any access to the residence, but can pick up and drop off their 8-year-old son in front of the home. 

A court document signed off by a judge on Monday, meanwhile, orders that Otunga will be able to enter the residence on Thursday to photograph and/or video his personal items for inventory. Otunga, who is allowed no more than three people with him while inside Hudson's home and is not allowed to share or disseminate any photos or videos from the residence, will pick up his items within the next week
