Born on February the 14th 1979, Martin grew in social housing in Copenhagen, Denmark and London England.
Martin graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in January 2008 - with a bachelor in photojournalism - although he has have worked as a freelance photographer since 2001. During his studies he interned at the regional Danish newspaper JydskeVestkysten from 2005 to 2007. After graduating he had the honour of receiving first prize in the feature category, at the Danish Press Photo of the Year 2007/2008, for a selection of eight pictures, from the story "In My Brothers Kingdom", about the daily life of his younger brother. A larger selection from the same story was exhibited at the first Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hannover, in June 2008. Martin also had the honour of exhibiting at the second Lumix Festival, in June 2010. This time with the series "Lobstermens Apprentice" about 20-year-old Chris, who took to the sea, on a lobster trawler, to get a new start.
In 2018 he was accepted into the Danish Society of Cinematographers as the first photojournalist ever.
Today Martin lives in central Copenhagen.
