Originally scheduled to come out on Valentine's Day (February 14th), Happy Death Day 2U will now be released one day earlier out of respect for the one-year anniversary of the Parkland school shooting.
Multiple sources, including Entertainment Weekly, share the news of the new Happy Death Day 2U release date, including a statement from Universal Pictures:
“When Universal Pictures became aware last week that the one-year anniversary of the tragic events in Parkland, Florida fell on the Happy Death Day 2U release date, the studio spoke with victim advocates and immediately began the process of changing the release date of the film. Following discussions with its partners in exhibition, Universal will move the North American release date to February 13.
Additionally, the studio has decided not to show the film in Parkland and the surrounding areas. Outdoor, digital and in-theatre marketing for the film will be suspended in that market.

Universal Pictures have kicked off the New Year with a brand new trailer for Happy Death Day 2U, showing off more time-bending kills. Come inside to check it out!
Today brings about a brand new trailer for the upcoming horror sequel to the surprisingly fun Happy Death Day. The "Groundhog Day"-esque slasher flick returns and picks up soon af the events of the first film with an all new twist that puts her friends in danger as well:
This is a pretty solid trailer and I'm digging the horror/comedy vibe (much like the first film) that's also mixed with action and sci-fi elements. There's a lot going on and seeing Jessica Rothe's character taking more action this time around is neat. It's strange, though, that this trailer seems to show even less than the movie's teaser trailer last month. Still, it's a fun reminder that Happy Death Day 2U...

So who’s going to pledge Kappa now that it’s got a death curse on it? That’s one of the questions bedeviling Happy Death Day 2U, the upcoming Valentine’s Day treat from Universal Pictures. The trailer for the follow-up to Blumhouse’s hit 2017 horror-comedy was released today.
The original Happy Death Day took in nearly $123 million worldwide, and production started in May on the sequel. Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard are back onscreen, with original director Christopher Landon, who wrote the sequel, on board again.
In the first movie, Rothe’s sorority girl Tree Gelbman relives the day of her murder in Groundhog Day style, and Broussard played Carter, a guy she keeps waking up next to. The sequel has Rothe’s Tree confronted with even greater dangers, not least being a knife-wielding killer in a baby mask.

Lest you forget history is doomed to repeat itself, Blumhouse Productions is releasing a sequel to its late-2017 entry into the comedy horror canon, “Happy Death Day.” In the case of “Happy Death Day 2U,” however, history repeating itself is a very good — and chillingly entertaining — thing. The newly released trailer from Universal Pictures recaps the first film while putting protagonist Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) through the ringer of terrifying twists and comic turns once again.
In the original “Happy Death Day,” Rothe plays a college student who is murdered on the night of her birthday, only to wake up and start the same day over again every time she dies. Her never-ending cycle of death ceases only when she finds out the identity of the killer.
In the sequel, Tree discovers her nightmare occurring again, except this time everyone she knows is dying as well. In order to save her friends,...

Blumhouse horror sequel Happy Death Day 2U ups the ante and meta-minded horror, setting up a bloody Valentine's Day.
Happy Death Day may not have broken the box office with Avengers: Infinity War level might, but the Groundhog Day-influenced 2017 Blumhouse horror flick managed to achieve something impressive in its own right, manifesting as a big bang for the studio’s buck, with the micro-budgeted ($4.8 million) movie managing to reap $55.6 million at the domestic box office, which adds to a total of $122.6 million worldwide. Consequently, sequel prospects quickly glistened like frosting on a Happy Death Day 2U cupcake.
The sequel, titled Happy Death Day 2U, saw original film helmer Christopher B. Landon back in the director's chair, this time working off his own script. He's joined by a returning producer in studio head Jason Blum. Angela Mancuso and John Baldecchi return as executive producers, joined this time by Samson Mucke.

The Seerkind are still set to appear on The CW in an onscreen adaptation of Clive Barker’s Weaveworld, although the network will be making some changes with the project by bringing in a new writer to work on a different adaptation of Barker’s 1987 book.
Deadline reports the recent news regarding the Weaveworld TV series, which will receive a makeover from a yet-to-be-named writer. As previously planned, Clive Barker will executive produce the series with Angela Mancuso for CBS TV Studios.
The CW’s planned modern retelling of Barker’s 1980s-set book was going to focus on a modern day app designer and a “a young pastry chef who has just discovered that she is destined to be guardian of a mythological realm that can be accessed through a portal in an old Savannah mansion.”
There’s currently no telling how much—if any—of the original adaptation will survive in the new draft,...

Though she's committed to two other sci-fi projects and Own's "Queen Sugar" drama series, "Selma" helmer Ava DuVernay has taken on another gig - she's set to direct "The Battle Of Versailles" for HBO Films.
DuVernay and Michael Starrbury will co-write the film based on fashion journalist Robin Givhan's 2015 non-fiction novel which deals with the 1973 Palace of Versailles fashion show which served as a fundraiser for the restoration of King Louis Xiv's palace.
The show pitted the top five French designers (Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin, Emanuel Ungaro, and Marc Bohan of Christian Dior) against five then-unknown Americans (Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Halston, Stephen Burrows and Anne Klein, who brought along her then-assistant Donna Karan) in front of an audience of the world's social elite.
The French did a big-budget, two-hour extravaganza featuring elaborate set pieces and a live orchestra. The Americans a 35-minute show...

I noticed after our Amanda Seyfried/"The Girl With the Red Riding Hood" story went up, a lot of our Twitter followers started mentioning a Syfy reimagining. They are correct: Syfy is launching a new original movie called "Red," a re-imagining the classic tale of "Little Red Riding Hood."
We've got a ways to go until the movie arrives on TV. Syfy's press release lists a 2011 premiere. But that's fine when you consider that Catherine Hardwicke's planned taking on Riding Hood hasn't even been green-lit yet, meaning we'll likely see it in 2011 at the earliest. Syfy also announced that Felicia Day, star of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog" and "The Guild," will headline the "Red" cast.
"Red" is part of a new Syfy series of original efforts aimed at offering new takes on classic fairy tales and myths. The series launched last month on February 27 with...
