American Horror Story season 6: Roanoke Chapter 6 review

Ron Hogan Oct 21, 2016

American Horror Story takes on trashy reality TV in this highly meta Roanoke instalment...

This review contains spoilers.

Well, my theory about the sudden turn of American Horror Story was both correct and incorrect. The thing that brings everyone back to the Roanoke house is indeed a TV show, but it's got nothing to do with Billy Dean Howard. Instead, it's got everything to do with greed and laziness. The greed and laziness inherent in modern television.

Sidney (Cheyenne Jackson) has turned My Roanoke Nightmare into a massive success. We're talking 23 million viewers, more than professional sports, The Walking Dead, and Empire. You can't say Ryan Murphy doesn't dream big. Needless to say,

'Hitman: Agent 47' Gets an R-Rating in Today's MPAA Ratings Bulletin

Well this is the shortest MPAA ratings bulletin I believe I've ever posted as it's only made up of two films, the first of which is Hitman: Agent 47, which Fox will be releasing as an R-rated film. This comes as something of a surprise since PG-13 releases are all the rage nowadays and the easiest way to get more butts in the seats, but Fox is taking a bit of a chance, going with an R-rating, just like the first film, which crashed and burned back in 2007. We'll see how this second attempt does. Then there's a PG-13 for The Perfect Guy, a new thriller featuring quite the ensemble including strong>Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy, Morris Chestnut, Kathryn Morris, Rutina Wesley, Holt McCallany and Shannon Lucio. Get the full bulletin below. Hitman: Agent 47 Rated R For sequences of strong violence, and some language. Release Date: August 21, 2015 The Perfect Guy Rated PG-13 For violence,

Starting in Hong Kong, we are introduced to Renshu Tseng (Changchien), a street performer whose magic tricks don’t exactly go down well with the crowds. After making eye contact with a pretty (but obviously villainous) woman (Negga), he decides to show off his real power which involves creating and controlling fire. Taking the woman back to his place, and in the process ignoring the millions of viewers doing their best Admiral Ackbar impressions, Renshu finds himself kidnapped by men in fireproof suits. During this time there is some interesting exploration of the illusion vs. reality theme, which

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 3: “I’m No Angel” focuses on the grace-less Castiel

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 3: “I’m No Angel”

Written by Brad Buckner and Eugenie Ross-Leming

Directed by Kevin Hooks

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW

Among the falling of angels that ended Season 8, the incident of Castiel losing his grace and becoming human seemed like a minor point. Regardless of its perceived scale, however, it was nonetheless a huge upheaval for the angel, who once again paid a heavy price for trusting the wrong individual. Compounding the difficulty of adjusting to his human state, Castiel was also forced into becoming a fugitive by angels looking for vengeance. This week’s episode picks up on his struggles, as well as how angels are finding their bearings on Earth, in another solid episode that proves things are only about to get more difficult for the Winchesters and Castiel.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Sets Fire To Skye’s Past

  • Boomtron
The best things “Girl in the Flower Dress” had going for it was it’s special effects/action and getting Skye’s double-agent status out in the open and dealt with. If Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had let that particular plotline carry on much longer, the series would’ve suffered. What this show needs to do is push forward at breakneck speed and never look back for too long. I like that Centipede was brought back into the mix and, instead of prancing around the same story we saw in their previous appearance, we were treated to something a little different that progressed that particular plot arc while giving us a much-needed backstory for Skye.

Our freak of the week is a man who eventually calls himself Scorch – everyone seems to groan whenever they hear he’s been given a name – because of his ability to produce fire and not burn himself.

Agents of Shield Review: Coming Clean

  • TVfanatic
On Agents of Shield this week, we got a better look at Centipede as we met Raina, a new key player in the organization who arrived as the "Girl in the Flower Dress."

Raina has a lot more subtly to her style, easily charming Chan, a street pyrokentic, and convincing him that taking the name "Scorch" would give him a chance to be remembered by the world. The Yin to her Yang was the doctor we previously met in the pilot, who was much more direct in her methods of wanting to use him up.

The doctor, "Debbie" (as she was listed in the credits), was well portrayed by actress Shannon Lucio, but the character felt a bit two-dimensional, which is why I suspect she was given a spectacular send off in a ball of fire from the hands of Scorch. What better way to improve your antagonist than killing

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Ep 1.05, “Girl in the Flower Dress” a small improvement

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Season 1, Episode 5: “Girl in the Flower Dress”

Written by Jeffrey Bell

Directed by Brent Fletcher

Airs Mondays at 8pm Et on ABC

Apart from the pilot, it has been difficult to recommend Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The previous three instalments are a perfect storm of hackneyed direction, inane scripting and poorly executed action set-pieces. This week, S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t much of an improvement, but Skye’s inevitable betrayal undoubtedly spices things up. In “Girl in the Flower Dress” we learn that Skye’s parents hold a larger place within the Marvel universe; and more importantly, it gives viewers more reason to care about her. While Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) allegiance keeps shifting back and forth, she remains the only character aside from Agent Coulson, who’s wrapped up in some bigger mystery.

S.H.I.E.L.D. assembles its fifth episode “Girl in the Flower Dress,” as Coulson and

The CW just released the photos from episode 3 airing Tuesday (Oct. 22), and Cas' life as a human is about to get extremely complicated. He's homeless, hunted by angels, and alone. "The last time we saw Castiel talking with Dean, Dean said, 'Get your ass to the bunker.' I think Castiel has taken that to heart, but the issue is he can't fly, he has very little money, so how is he going to do this?" executive producer Jeremy Carver tells Zap2it. 'Supernatural' Ep Jeremy Carver on Ezekiel possessing Sam, Dean's choices, Castiel's human struggles, Crowley's return, and more

After last week's Season 9 premiere of "Supernatural," which found Dean allowing the angel Ezekiel to possess Sam to heal him from the inside out without Sam's knowledge (read our full recap here), fans have been wondering what ramifications Dean's choice will have on the Winchester brothers' relationship ... especially after they came to an understanding of trust in the Season 8 finale. Will Dean's secret threaten to tear the brothers apart so soon after they finally forgave each other for all of their past transgressions?

Zap2it got the chance to pick executive producer Jeremy Carver's brain about just that, as well as Castiel's human struggles (and human love?), Crowley's predicament, and more about Tuesday (Oct. 15) night's all-new "Supernatural," titled "Devil May Care," and the rest of Season 9. 'Supernatural' Season 9: 'The O.C.'s' Shannon Lucio cast as Castiel's ... love interest?

No, you didn't read that headline wrong, and no, that wasn't a typo. "Supernatural's" angel-turned-human Castiel is getting a love interest this season.

The CW's long-running hit series just cast "The O.C." alum Shannon Lucio to woo the fan-favorite character, TVLine reports. She will guest star as April Kelly, and will first show up in Season 9′s third episode, airing Oct. 22.

Seriously, Lucio got to romance Benjamin McKenzie's Ryan Atwood and now Misha Collins' Cas? Some girls just get all the luck.

This is the first time Cas will get some action on the series after five seasons -- though he did learn a few things from "the pizza boy" to impress Meg the demon before Crowley dispatched her once and for all last season.

Are you excited to see Cas get a love interest? Let us know in the comments below.
