I've long been a sucker for disaster/weather movies.  The idea of contending with an unstoppable force (nature) and the havoc it can cause is an interesting one and can make for some exciting set pieces.  As such, I can't help but feel excited based off this Geostorm trailer:

Let's be honest here...the story, as with Most disaster films, probably isn't going to be all that great, but that's not why I'm going to end up seeing this film.  I'm going for the ridiculous amount of awesome destruction on display.  What do you guys think?

Fortitude series 2 review

12 February 2017 3:52 PM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Michael Noble Feb 13, 2017

For those of you who've already binge-watched the entirety of Sky Atlantic's Fortitude series 2, here's our spoiler-filled review...

This review contains spoilers.

See related  Trespass Against Us trailer, with Michael Fassbender Justin Kurzel interview: Macbeth, Breaking Bad, Snowtown

When Fortitude arrived on our screens in 2015, it did so floating on a sea of publicity. Millions were spent announcing the arrival of Sky’s newest pitch at offering original drama to sit alongside its impressive roster of Us imports. Polar bears appeared at tube stations and posters of its snowbound stars, among them such luminaries as Michael Gambon, Sofie Gråbøl, Christopher Ecclestone and Stanley Tucci, appeared in hoardings both online and in the real world. The campaign caught attention but remained abstract, leaving little clue as to what the show was actually about.

The marketers can be forgiven for this approach, as the show itself seemed uncertain. »

Mortal Engines Sets Hera Hilmar As Female Lead

7 February 2017 8:30 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s not everyday Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh – two parts of the creative driving force behind The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies – pledge their support to a budding film franchise, so it’s small wonder why Mortal Engines has already generated so much excitement.

An adaptation of Philip Reeve’s dystopian novel series, Jackson and Walsh initially signed on to produce the big-screen rendition of Mortal Engines many moons ago, and are currently in the process of constructing a screenplay with Philippa Boyens and Christian Rivers. The latter was elected director on the project late last year, and just recently we learned that Robert Sheehan and Fantastic Beasts star Ronan Raftery had climbed on board. According to Variety, we can now add Hera Hilmar’s name to that preliminary cast list, as the up-and-coming actress has been set as the film’s female lead.

Newswire: Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines casts its lead actor

3 February 2017 7:18 AM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Peter Jackson’s latest literary adaptation keeps moving at a steady pace, as Variety reports that his Mortal Engines movie has just cast one of its lead actors. Robbie Sheehan’s (Fortitude) role isn’t currently known, but he will lead the cast. The dystopian steampunk world of The Mortal Engines source book—which is driven by “Municipal Darwinism,” in which larger cities consume smaller ones for their resources—should allow him to strap on interesting gadgets or at least some goggles. But Sheehan is probably already hoping this Ya adaptation will fare better than The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, which he starred in back in 2013.

Also joining the cast is Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’s Ronan Raftery, who has a supporting, also undisclosed, role. Jackson’s reassembled his usual team for the movie; he’ll produce and co-write with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens ...

‘Fortitude 2×04′ Review

28 January 2017 10:07 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Stars: Sofie Gråbøl, Richer Dormer, Dennis Quaid, Michelle Fairley, Robert Sheehan, Edvin Endre, Parminder Nagra | Created by Simon Donald

Just when you thought Fortitude couldn’t get any stranger, episode 4 of series two takes things to new levels. An eyeless man stalking the town, a new Shaman in town and gravedigging all adding up to bring all the mysteries together, with a dose of Russian conspiracy just to add to the drama.

After the events of last episode, we are treated to an explanation as to what has been going on with the wild animals, at least the reindeer which was discovered being experimented on. Seemingly used to create a drug (in the form of the so-called reindeer juice) this discovery also reveals the man, who will probably be the prime suspect, though we still don’t know who he is just yet. What also is discovered is more details »

We’re now three episodes in to Fortitude‘s second series and there is one thing we can be sure of: any semblance of normality has now been lost… With characters that were seemingly at death’s door now waking up, and people being decapitated, it seems that answers to what is going on may be being revealed.

The problem with this is though, there may be clues but no definite answer. A hint does seem to be in the tests Dr Sarinda Khatri (Paraminder Nagra) is doing on a comatose patient that don’t seem to be ethical. Especially when her prognosis of the patient being beyond waking up doesn’t seem to be the truth. Hildur Odegard (Sofie Gråbøl) now seemingly ousted from her job as governor also takes »

In the first episode of Fortitude‘s second series we were given the groundwork for what we can expect in this latest chapter of the story of the “safest place on Earth.” Hardly safe though, we seem to have a story of cannibals and demons, and with a missing head still somewhere in the town, what other secrets will episode two reveal?

One of the most interesting things we find in this episode is that Dr. Sarinda Khatri (Parminder Nagra) is still experimenting with one of the wasps which caused so many problems in the first season. Now that the sheriff is back though, the investigations as to who the headless man is are making some progress. With Michael Lennox (Dennis Quaid) trying to salvage his boat and his livelihood, it »

Fortitude first caught my attention when it was advertised on television, with the town’s governor making the statement that it was the safest town on Earth. This of course wasn’t true, as murder and chaos soon take hold. Now as we move to the second season of Fortitude, and its first episode, we return to the town and a fresh murder not surprisingly introduces us to the next chapter…

After the events of Fortitude: Season 1, the people of Fortitude are still dealing with the fallout, including Governor Hildur Odegard (Sofie Gråbøl). When a decapitated body is discovered in the snow, it appears the town once again has a murderer at large. With strange things going on including mutilation of dogs and tension with the fishing community, everything is »
