Bertie Carvel was born in 1977 in London, England as Robert Carvel. He is an actor, known for Les Misérables (2012), Doctor Foster (2015) and Star Wars: The Old Republic (2011).

Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Graduated in 2003 with Ben Whishaw, Edmund Kingsley and Kate Miles.
Works extensively with BBC Radio.
Obtained a BA (Hons) English degree from the University of Sussex (2000). While there he appeared in student productions of "Murder In The Cathedral" (Archbishop), "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" (Valmont), "Cyrano De Bergerac" (Ragueneau), and "The Duchess of Malfi" (Ferdinand).
