Poster and trailer for crime thriller Carnage Park

26 May 2016 9:30 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

A poster and trailer have arrived online for writer-director Mickey Keating’s (Pod, Darling) upcoming crime thriller Carnage Park which stars Ashley Bell and Pat Healy; take a look below…

This pure-pulp thrill ride jumps between past and present as it pieces together the puzzle of a shocking crime. It’s 1978 and a bank robbery gone wrong leaves Vivian (The Last Exorcism’s Ashley Bell) the hostage of two criminals on the run. But things go from bad to off-the-rails berserk when she and her captors wind up on the sun-baked desert outpost of a deranged ex-military sniper (Pat Healy), who ensnares them in his deadly game of cat and mouse. Rising horror auteur Mickey Keating (Pod, Darling) directs this gritty, grisly homage to the glory days of grindhouse cinema.

Carnage Park features a cast that also includes James Landry Hebert, Michael Villar, Darby Stanchfield and Alan Ruck.

Exclusive: IFC Midnight Sets July Release for Mickey Keating’s Carnage Park

19 May 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Earlier this year, I attended the world premiere of Mickey Keating’s Carnage Park, which stunned audiences during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. In just a short amount of time, Keating has established himself as a masterful genre storyteller, and his latest effort is a blisteringly taut masterclass in both tension and terror. Following its screening at SXSW, IFC Midnight acquired Us distribution rights to Carnage Park, and we have official word on when you can see the film for yourself.

Carnage Park will be heading to select theaters and will also be available on demand starting on Friday July 1st, with an additional theatrical rollout to follow in select cities. Directed and written by Mickey Keating, the film stars Ashley Bell, Pat Healy, Alan Ruck, Darby Stanchfield, Larry Fessenden, Graham Skipper, James Landry Hébert, and Michael Villar.

Dredd 2

Actor Karl Urban remains very keen to take on the role of Judge Dredd again, to the point that he tweeted this week asking for streaming services like Netflix and Amazon to look into a "Dredd"-related project as "There's a gold mine of Awesome Mega city 1 stories." The tweet was prompted by a fan-made Netflix listing for a possible "Dredd" film sequel.

The Reason You're Alive

Miramax has won the rights to a film adaptation of "The Silver Linings Playbook" author Matthew Quick's new novel "The Reason You're Alive" which Allison Shearmur ("Cinderella," "Rogue One") will produce. Quick will adapt the screenplay from his novel.

The story follows a Vietnam war veteran who, following brain surgery, must atone for a decades-old injustice in order to reconnect with his peace-loving art dealer son. [Source: Variety]

The tables have turned. “Scandal” brought out a whole new set of claws from a few unsuspecting Gladiators on Thursday night’s episode, which saw Abby (Darby Stanchfield) going behind Cyrus’ (Jeff Perry) back to get him fired.

After the past few episodes in which Cyrus has been betraying President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) to try to create a new president in Latino politician Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira), Abby caught on to Cyrus’ master plan so she decided to give him a taste of his own medicine and betray him right back. With her eye on Cyrus’ spot in the White House, Abby went right into the Oval Office to tell Fitz what Cyrus has been up to and Fitz told her that if she wants his job, she had to fire him — and she did. »

‘Scandal’ Star Reacts to Abortion Episode, Teases More Political References as Election Heats Up

Scandal” is no stranger to making political statements — as seen in a recent episode, which tackled the defunding of Planned Parenthood and saw Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope getting an abortion — but in the midst of the presidential election cycle, Shonda Rhimes’ ABC show is going to up the ante.

“Shonda and the ‘Scandal’ writers have done a really brilliant job in this second half the season, in particular, of really playing to what the political climate is in our country,” Darby Stanchfield who plays White House press secretary Abby Whelan on “Scandal” tells Variety. “You see some really fun references to what’s going on. ‘Scandal’: Darby Stanchfield Teases Abby’s ‘Major Change’ in the White House

In the Season 5 midseason premiere of “Scandal,” Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Olivia (Kerry Washington) didn’t come in contact, but the president did get closer to Abby (Darby Stanchfield) — too close for comfort.

After Fitz had repeatedly called Abby multiple times at 2 o’clock in the morning on Thursday’s episode, Abby had a girls night with Olivia, venting to her: “I’ve got no life … What is his problem?”

By the end of the episode, when Abby received yet another call in the middle of the night from Fitz, she finally stormed into the Oval Office, exclaiming, “The job I’ve had around here recently is a different kind of job. I’m not a companion animal!”

“I think in ‘Scandal,’ there is always hope for Olivia and Fitz, but the words that were exchanged and the argument that they had, that does feel final.
