MacMorran began composing music for films and documentaries after establishing himself as a mixer and sound designer. He has provided sound design and original music for a variety of educational documentaries and in 1994 composed music for his first film "Daniel Boone's Life in Missouri", produced by Innervision Studios in St. Louis, Missouri, and edited by Scott Betz The feature "Defiance", directed by Doveed Linder, allowed MacMorran to showcase his skills at post-scoring for picture,and working alongside another composer/performer, Fred Early, who provided guitar and percussion tracks for "Defiance". MacMorran also provided sound design, along with Sanford Mendelson, dialog editing, and mixing for "Defiance".
