Vikings will sail back to TV with a two-hour Season 5 premiere on Wednesday, November 29, History said at San Diego Comic-Con today. Vikings” released our first glimpse at Season 5 of the turn-of-the-8th century epic at Comic-Con on Friday and it looks like there are few characters who’ll get through the newest batch of episodes unscathed.

For those unfamiliar with the previous 49 episodes of the series (all written by Michael Hirst), the trailer does an effective job of boiling down the show’s dense mythology into its rival factions. With the Season 4 finale leaving Lagertha pulling the strings as the Queen of Kattegat, this sneak peek also gives audiences a glimpse at where Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) have ended up.

History’s Vikings not only announced a Season 5 premiere date at the San Diego Comic-Con, it also released a typically intense trailer that warns of A) a war between brothers, B) a civil war and, for good measure, C) no less than “the end of of world” (as Lagertha puts it).

Vikings' fifth season finally has an air date - and you can see a big new trailer right here, too...

There was some great news for Vikings fans this past weekend at Sdcc. The History Channel finally announced an air date for season 5 of the popular show, and it's set to start on November 29th with a mammoth 2 hour premiere.

Vikings is about bold storytelling,” said History's Arturo Interian. “When Michael Hirst told us his epic plans for the season premiere, we needed two hours to tell it properly. Season five is taking our Vikings to uncharted lands we’ve never seen on the series before.”
