Each Christmas and Easter season, History and other cablenets air a number of documentaries on various aspects of the Bible, usually featuring talking-head experts and iffy-looking dramatic re-creations.
Often these productions take a skeptical look at the historicity or accuracy or veracity of biblical accounts, as if the last thing in the world a documentary would want to be seen doing is taking anything in the Bible at face value.
But skepticism was the last thing on the minds of reality TV mogul Mark Burnett ("The Apprentice," "Survivor") and his wife, actress Roma Downey ("Touched by an Angel"), when they set out as executive producers of "The Bible," airing Sundays from March 3 to March 31, which is Easter Sunday this year.
Joined by their faith and a love for the sacred writings of Judaism and Christianity, they have spearheaded a 10-hour, five-part dramatic series that spans the Old and New Testaments, »

Veteran Olympian Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards has won ITV's celebrity diving competition 'Splash!'
His triumph comes 25 years after he shot to fame with the world's worst Olympic ski jump at the winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
The Eagle landed perfectly with his first dive and taking a maximum 30 points for the two-and-a-half somersault from the 10 metre board.
It had not been an easy week for Edwards who lost his confidence in training with a series of painful belly and back flops.
But with his game face on and after his flawless showing, celebrity judge Jo Brand told him: "You just need to master hang gliding and you could be the next Milk Tray man."

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards has been named winner of Splash!.
Despite facing a setback after a disastrous dive in training this week, Edwards's 2 1/2 somersault dive from the 7.5m board gained a perfect score from judges Andy Banks, Jo Brand and Leon Taylor, while his synchronised dive earned 28.5 out of 30, producing a final score of 58.5.
After announcing the result, presenter Vernon Kay hailed Edwards's "fearless" performances over the course of the series.
Edwards told Kay: "It's been fantastic. Very painful, very, very difficult and very dangerous but I've loved every minute of it."
Barker's forward 1 1/2 somersault from the 5m board prompted Brand to call the interior designer an "inspiration". Together with the synchronised dive performed alongside Daley, she scored »

Omid Djalili's odds of winning Splash! have fallen dramatically, according to Ladbrokes. The comedian's odds of triumphing in the series have dropped from 40/1 to 5/1 following the first show. He is now third favourite to win, behind actor Jake Canuso and Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo. Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Omid's odds plummeted quicker than he did off the 10m board and his swan dive has firmly secured his place as a competition favourite." After the show - presented by Tom Daley - received more than 6 million viewers for its premiere, Ladbrokes has cut the odds of the final beating last year's X Factor final to 4/1 (from 8/1).
