What Does Stan Lee Think of Tom Holland as Spider-Man?

20 June 2016 11:51 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last month Marvel kicked off Phase 3 of its Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War, which introduced both Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Tom Holland will return in his first standalone movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, which has been set for release on July 7, 2017, and judging the overwhelmingly positive response from fans, this next chapter in the Spidey saga could be a blockbuster in its own right. Over the weekend, Marvel legend Stan Lee offered his thoughts on the new Spider-Man, issuing high praise for the young actor.

The new Spider-Man made his debut halfway through Captain America: Civil War, where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) paid the youngster a visit at his Brooklyn home. Tony recruited this young high school student to fight on his team during Civil War, and it seems their relationship will continue in Spider-Man: Homecoming, since Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed »

Movie Review – Gods of Egypt (2016)

18 June 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Gods of Egypt, 2016.

Directed by Alex Proyas.

Starring Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gerard Butler, Courtney Eaton, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, Rufus Sewell, and Geoffrey Rush.

Synopsis:

Ancient Egypt, a world where the Gods live among mortals. Osiris, King of all Egypt, prepares to crown his dutiful son Horus as his successor, but doesn’t count on his power hungry brother Set challenging for the throne…

Given the gap between its Us and UK theatrical release, us across the Pond have been preparing ourselves for a stinker of enormous proportions with Gods of Egypt. It’s generated more conversation than many films given claims of whitewashing when it comes to casting its ancient Egyptian heroes, which Alex Proyas and studio Lionsgate apologised for–anticipating the backlash–and largely blamed on the practicalities of not just a dearth of appropriate Egyptian actors but equally the necessity of the box office draw of its stars. »

Gerard Butler shouts and transforms into a robot in Alex Proyas’ fantasy Gods Of Egypt. Ryan reviews a screamingly odd film...

Ancient Egypt - a land of pyramids, colossal statues and unconvincing scorpions. Did you know that, in the time of the pharoahs, gods lived among ordinary mortals and could transform into huge, fire-spouting robots? Director Alex ProyasGods Of Egypt may have been demolished by critics when it appeared in the Us earlier this year, but it’s certainly educational.

Proyas previously brought us such dark and moody delights as The Crow and Dark City, but Gods Of Egypt is completely unlike anything he’s made before. It’s big, it’s camp, it’s awash with CGI which varies in quality from shot to shot. In style and tone, it belongs in that same odd category of action fantasy films as Louis Leterrier’s Clash Of The Titans »

Confirmed: Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o in 'Black Panther'

8 June 2016 6:17 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Casting over at Marvel seems to be harder and harder to hide these days. Just short of a month ago, THR reported the inside scoop that Creed and Fruitvale Station actor Michael B. Jordan would be joining Chadwick Boseman in the standalone Black Panther film from Marvel. While the rumor was pretty much accepted as fact at the time, today, we have our first actual confirmation from a party involved.

In an interview with THR while at Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, Jordan expressed his excitement at jumping on board the flick.

“I’m super excited, especially to put a different spin on it. I’m looking forward to working with Ryan [Coogler] once again. It’s gonna be a good time.”

Jordan also said he was looking forward to working with Lupita Nyong'o and Chadwick Boseman, essentially confirming the actress' involvement in the picture as well (who was also rumored to »

Michael B. Jordan Confirms Black Panther Casting; Expresses Excitement To Reteam With Ryan Coogler

7 June 2016 7:36 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The cast of Marvel’s Black Panther is shaping up to be nothing short of amazing, and while we don’t yet know who everyone is playing, it’s pretty obvious that Marvel Studios is looking to knock this one out of the park. Throw in the fact that T’Challa emerged as a clear fan-favourite after Captain America: Civil War, and anticipation for the movie is obviously at an all-time high.

However, one of the best pieces of news in regards to Black Panther was the addition of Michael B. Jordan in what’s thought to be a villainous role. The actor worked with director Ryan Coogler on both Fruitvale Station and Creed, so them teaming up for a third time makes perfect sense, and Jordan has now commented for the first time on his casting.

The actor’s remarks in regards to Black Panther were brief, but he »

THR first reported that Michael B. Jordan was in line for a role in Marvel's Black Panther movie, and when the trade caught up with the young star at the ninth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, he confirmed that he had indeed signed on to work with his Creed director Ryan Coogler on the highly anticipated solo T'Challa outing. Jordan remained tight-lipped about the name of his character of course, but he did say he was excited to put a "different spin on it", without elaborating any further. Then, during some rapid-fire questions, he seemingly confirmed that Lupita Nyong'o is also a lock when he said he was looking forward to working with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress and Chadwick Boseman, who will play the lead role. Sebastian Stan on the Obvious Marvel Film Bucky Should Star in Next

Marvel's Black Panther starring Chadwick Boseman is set for release on February 16, 2018 and fans are dying to know who will be involved in the story besides T'Challa and his badass bodyguard. Captain America: Civil War's Sebastian Stan is being careful about opening the flood gates of rumor town but we have a pretty good feeling about this anyway. A lot of interesting stories are coming out of Wizard World in Philadelphia. ComicBook.com has video from the convention's panel featuring Stan and his costars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie in which fans had time to ask burning questions. One fan asked Stan if he could have his character Bucky (aka the Winter Soldier) be in any other Marvel movie (excluding Captain America or Avengers films), which would it be? "Careful," replied Evans first. "Because I answered one of these questions and then everyone picks it up, and they run »

Stan Talks Winter Solider In "Black Panther"

7 June 2016 6:04 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Spoilers Ahead For "Captain America: Civil War"

During the end credits of "Captain America: Civil War," we saw Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier electing to go back into cryostorage in the Black Panther's home country Wakanda.

The character elected to do this until Wakandan scientists could remove the leftover Hydra programming still in his head. Of course it also raised the obvious question - could he be popping up in the Ryan Coogler-directed solo "Black Panther" movie which goes into production?

While attending the Wizard World Philadelphia convention this weekend, Stan was asked what upcoming Marvel movie would he like to be in. He responded (via YouTube):

"I don't know, man. I mean, there's obviously a very clear answer but I'm not maybe gonna say it, now. Where did he end up at the end of the movie? That's the movie he should be in. »
