61 years ago today, J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” continued with the release of its second volume, “The Two Towers.” That November release followed that summer’s debut of “The Fellowship of the Ring,” which came nearly two decades after “The Hobbit” hit shelves in 1937. Tolkien’s epic tale of Middle-earth continued in this second volume, introducing readers to Treebeard and his fellow Ents, to the realm of Rohan and to Gríma Wormtongue. The third “Lord of the Rings” volume, “The Return of the King” was released in October 1955, so fans had to wait nearly 12 months to find out what happened after the cliffhanger of “Two Towers,” which ends with Samwise realizing that Frodo had not been killed by Shelob’s venomous sting, as it had appeared, but merely drugged. “Frodo was alive but taken by the Enemy,” the book ends. Rayner Unwin, the books’ publisher, later said, “For »

After four seasons, double infinity is coming to a close.
Heading into the “Revenge” series finale, Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) is alive and out for a vengeance to take down Emily/Amanda (Emily VanCamp), once and for all. “Revenge” wraps its four season-run this Sunday, but before Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) and Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp) come face-to-face for good, Variety has a first look at their final showdown.
In the sneak peek (watch above), Emily/Amanda has escaped jail to find Victoria, and pulls a gun on her, upon confrontation.
“I believe that the people who hurt my family deserve to live in agony, not pay with their lives,” Emily/Amanda says. “But you — you are the one exception. For you, death is my only true revenge.”
Before the clip cuts, a gunshot is fired, as she says, “Goodbye, Victoria.”
After the penultimate episode, in which Victoria’s death was revealed to be a fake-out, exec producer Sunil Nayar told Variety that Emily will learn one last detail from the night her enemy lit Grayson Manor on fire, which will bring everything full circle.
“There’s one more final, »

It looks like Amanda's revenge plots are coming to an end. ABC as cancelled their Revenge TV show after four seasons.
On this season of Revenge, many things have changed but Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) still had plenty of reasons to hate each other. The rest of the show's cast includes Gabriel Mann, Nick Wechsler, Josh Bowman, Christa B. Allen, James Tupper, and Karine Vanasse.
There had been speculation that Revenge would be ending this season, especially since a network promo teased viewers not to miss "the final four episodes."
After four seasons, ABC has canceled “Revenge,” Variety has confirmed.
The news comes just weeks after Stowe’s character Victoria Grayson was killed off the series, and the actress confirmed she would not be back for another round, if “Revenge” were to be renewed.
Earlier this season, Josh Bowman, another series regular from the show’s start in 2011, was also killed off, leaving only VanCamp, Gabriel Mann and Nick Wechsler as the original cast members left. Over the course of the series, regulars Henry Czerny, Connor Paolo and Barry Sloane were also axed, while actress Christa B. Allen has been void for the latter half of this season — though she will return for the final two episodes of the series.

A lot of reading, apparently.
New photos from Revenge‘s April 12 episode find Victoria and Margaux poring over the contents of a photo album, and judging by Vicky’s menacing words in the promo (“She’s left quite a body count”), I’m thinking this is far more than a walk down memory lane.
The episode’s log line also does nothing »
“I don’t want any more loss.” a breathy Emily sneered at Victoria halfway through Sunday’s Revenge. Unfortunately, Emily would soon be reminded that loss — much like David Clarke — is always lurking around the corner.
A sincere attempt at a truce with Margaux — Emily even brought her real birth certificate as a “peace offering” — ended in tragedy, as Margaux and her fuchsia pantsuit were side-swiped by a speeding taxi. (For those of you keeping score at home, that’s the second time a speeding car has attempted to murder a major character this season. »
