J.D. Funari products
Born and raised in Upstate New York, J.D. Funari got his start during the summer of 2000, when he made his first movie, the dark dramatic short Seven O'Clock.
The following year, J.D. directed, shot, and edited Evening Message, which he self-distributed in March 2002. The short was met by enthusiastic reception at numerous NY screenings and hailed by FilmThreat.com in a four star review as "...required viewing for any grass-roots filmmaker."
J.D. relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 to better pursue his career in entertainment, where he has since worked primarily as a TV & film editor on projects for a number of major networks, studios, and filmmakers, which includes interviewing actors Charlize Theron, Keira Knightley, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
In 2008, the trailer J.D. edited for celebrated British director Mike Leigh's movie Happy-Go-Lucky was nominated for a Golden Trailer Award.
2010 marks J.D.'s first feature length movie, the screen-writing documentary Tales from the Script, directed by Peter Hanson. Released theatrically by First Run Features, the movie was praised by national critics, receiving a 75% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a recommendation by TV's Leonard Maltin on his show Secret's Out.
