Niki Taylor was born on March 5, 1975 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA as Nicole Renee Taylor. She has been married to Burney Lamar since December 27, 2006. They have two children. She was previously married to Matt Martinez.

Younger sister, Krissy Taylor, also a model, died on July 2, 1995. Her sudden death was caused by right ventricular dysplasia. Niki found her in their parents' home.
Grew up in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Critically injured in an automobile crash in 2001, when her then-boyfriend reached down to answer his cellular phone and swerved off the road. She has had 41 surgeries since, and has been recovering remarkably.
Sued the publisher of British Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazines for photographing her scars after she was in a car accident with her boyfriend.
