22 August 2014 2:12 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Green Inferno, 2013.

Written and directed by Eli Roth.

Starring Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Magda Apanowicz, Ignacia Allamand, Daryl Sabara, Nicolas Martinez, Sky Ferreira, Eusebio Arenas, Richard Burgi and Matias Lopez.

Synopsis:

A group of student activists travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone – and that no good deed goes unpunished.

Eli Roth is a director that tends to split opinion among horror fans. Some think that his ballsy and gore-nographic mind is a breath of fresh air and a hark back to the days when films tried to push the limits of what was socially acceptable, while there are those who just feel that he’s a gore hound for the sake of being  a gore hound. Eli Roths The Green Inferno Pulled from Release!

8 August 2014 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Some rather irritating news to unfortunately kick-off your weekend with is news that Eli Roth's latest gore-filled horror offering 'The Green Inferno' has fallen victim to a late release date shifting! Originally planned to arrive on 5 September, less than one month away, the movie has now been pulled completely with no replacement date offered. There is even the possibility that the project will not even make it to theatres at all. It all boils down to financier issues with Worldview Entertainment and so Open Road have had to pull the plug on its planned September opening. 'The Green Inferno' stars Lorenza Izzo ('Aftershock'), Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolas Martinez and Aaron Burns. Let's just hope this gets resolved and that the movie gets an adequate release plan in the future. »

Eiff 2014: ‘The Green Inferno’ Review

Stars: Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira | Written by Eli Roth, Guillermo Amoedo | Directed by Eli Roth

Review by Andrew McArthur

Eli Roth continues to prove that he is quickly becoming a titan in the horror genre with his first directorial feature film in six years, The Green Inferno.

Paying homage to much-missed Cannibal-horror film (see Cannibal Holocaust, Man From Deep River, Eaten Alive!), The Green Inferno follows a group of college students who become stranded in the Amazon after their plane crashes when returning from a successful protest. The survivors soon find themselves imprisoned by a local tribe with a taste for human flesh.

Like all good horror films should be, The Green Inferno is nerve-shreddingly tense, packed with a foreboding atmosphere of dread, and is in equal parts visually grotesque and gorgeous. Whilst this lovingly pays tribute to the cannibal film, Roth breathes »

Eli Roth’s Twisted Mind Drops a New Trailer for The Green Inferno

2 June 2014 12:17 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

You gotta love a guy who allows (hell, he probably wrote the copy!) for a movie to be sold as being from his “twisted mind.” Then again, when you’re Eli Roth and you make your living cranking out snuff films disguised as horror movies, there are worse ways to be described, I suppose. Check out the new trailer for his latest “The Green Inferno,” which finds a group of pretty American college students going to the Amazon to save the rain forest or some dumb shit like that. Their plane ends up crashing and the locals decide to snack on them. I think they call that ironic. Or tragic. Or one of those. Either way: Yummy! The flick stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, Aaron Burns, and Ignacia Allamand, and comes for dinner this September 5th. »
