Where does Come Dine With Me go after its Coronation Street special?

7 December 2010 4:18 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

The Corrie one-off starring the grotesque Ken Morley was more like an avant garde art piece than a dinner party

It had Julie Goodyear literally whipping her guests into submission; Philip Middlemiss in a bright blonde wig; a very scared Tupele Dorgu, and Ken Morley dribbling and leering his way around dining room tables. Actual Coronation Street may have just ploughed a tram off a viaduct into dear old Rita, but the Come Dine With Me Corrie special was the real trainwreck of last night.

Despite the best intentions of Goodyear – who put up a decent fight, what with her manservant and his uniform of basically three small lengths of leopardskin dental floss – it was Morley who proved to be the centre of attention. It's hard to know which part of the show made him look the most grotesque. It might have been the dishes he served, each coming with »

Former Coronation Street star Ken Morley reportedly shocked fellow diners in a special episode of Come Dine With Me. The actor, who recently reprised his role as Reg Holdsworth for a spinoff DVD, appeared alongside ex-Corrie stars Julie Goodyear, Tupele Dorgu and Phil Middlemiss to celebrate the ITV soap's 50th anniversary. The Sun reports that Morley passed wind, burped, spat and insulted his guests in the episode - going as far as to tell Dorgu that he thought she had come from an "escort agency". The actress, who played Kelly Crabtree in the Weatherfield drama, said: "He's dribbled, I've (more) »

White: 'I didn't know Burnout celebs'

14 May 2010 9:24 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Marco Pierre White has admitted that he wasn't aware of many of the celebrities on Kitchen Burnout. Alex Ferns, Tupele Dorgu, Ruth Langsford and Nancy Dell'Olio will compete in tonight's semi-final, which will be judged by 25 diners and the Michelin star chef. White explained that he didn't recognise half of the contestants at the start of the series, because he chooses to avoid a showbiz lifestyle. Speaking about his habit of sleeping with curtains open during an interview on This Morning earlier today, he said: "If I close my curtains I just dream and I can sleep for about 12 hours, and I don't have any clocks, no TVs, no newspapers. "So I don't recognise half of [the celebrities]! And that is the honest truth (more) »

Last night's TV: Marco's Kitchen Burnout (ITV1)

16 April 2010 4:00 PM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

You can plate it up a bit differently, but there's no hiding that Marco Pierre White's latest show is reheated leftovers

What's this then? Another bloody cooking show? How does it work then?

So you've got three celebrities: Kelvin MacKenzie, who used to edit the Sun; Tupele Dorgu, who used to be in Coronation Street; and Donna Air, a TV presenter most famous for asking the Corrs how they met. And they have a bit of a chef-off to warm up. Then they cook in a restaurant for real live guests, and the food's all horrid and takes too long, and the guests get cross and send it back and get even more cross because they're hungry. Finally, there's a vote to see who stays and who goes home.

Isn't this pretty much exactly the same as Hell's Kitchen? Which Marco Pierre White also did, didn't he? There's simply »

Ben Price is amazed at how many women his 'Coronation Street' character has slept with. The actor, who took on the role if Nick Tilsley earlier this year, thinks the businessman - who is set to have a fling with Kelly Crabtree (Tupele Dorgu) - could end up having sex with retired newsagent Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox) if his promiscuous behaviour continues.
