Adam Devine opened the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards with an outlandish and timely Beauty and the Beast musical parody. Dressed as the titular beast – horns, fur and all – the Workaholics actor belted "Movies and TV," a satirical version of the Disney classic's grandiose theme song.
After a teaser introducing the "handsom-ish, youngish host," the comic star paraded onto an ornately designed stage (reminiscent of the Beast's lair), soundtracked by a brass fanfare. "Here's a big mindblower: We're awarding films and shows simultaneously," he sang, cementing the award show's new dual TV/movie format. »
Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…
One of the Internet’s longest running wrestling in-jokes is the size of Batista’s…Animal. He’s called Big Dave for a reason. While doing a Q+A on Twitter, Cm Punk referenced Batista’s endowment when answering why he’s never done an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit:
Because I know the dick size of @DaveBautista and refuse to divulge such knowledge. https://t.co/3BlrmTEnLb
— Coach (@CMPunk) April 19, 2017
The tweet found its way to Punk’s fellow disgruntled ex-wwe wrestler:
I just laughed so hard I may or may not have sharted! Not admitting anything but I'm heading to change my underwear.thanks buddy! #Drax https://t.co/jbgIDUYjEG

Liam Hoofe takes a look at seven other ex-superstars the WWE should consider signing…
With Kurt Angle and The Hardy Boyz having returned to the WWE this past week, and Drew McIntyre re-signing with the company too, it would appear as though the WWE is entering a new era of rehiring old superstars to add to their current roster.
Since last year’s brand split we have also seen the return of Curt Hawkins, Shelton Benjamin (well, not yet), Jinder Mahal and of course, Goldberg. The company’s willingness to reach out to old stars has opened the door to many possible returns and here is a look at seven other stars the company should consider reaching out to.
With WWE’s cruiserweight division finally beginning to get some momentum behind it, there would be no better time to add some real star power to the division than now. »

WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.
Have you got a 36 by 20” space on your bedroom, living room or toilet walls? Then you’re in luck, because even though it’s about a month late – with the artwork being debuted in February’s Festival of Friendship segment on Raw – WWE have made ‘The Creation of Kevin’ avaliable in poster form on their shop.
Frame it real nice, hang it in a prized position, and remember happier times. Like when Raw actually did good ratings. This week’s episode lost almost 300,000 viewers by the third hour.
The two hour Smackdown Live, however, has maintained a very healthy average increasing slightly from 2.628 million viewers last week to 2.647. A whopping 70% of you agreed with me the episode was 4 out of 5, and 16% thought it even better at 5 out of 5.

I’d like to wish everyone a happy belated Stone Cold Steve Austin day, as yesterday was – of course – the 16th March. A date abbreviated in the American format as ‘3.16’. I hope you all celebrated by inappropriately drinking beer at work and then Stone Cold stunnering your boss.
But far more important is what happens today – Southpaw Regional Wrestling’s debut on the WWE Network.
PWInsider have revealed the idea for the show was first pitched in WWE last September, and is a parody of old school Southern wrasslin’ promotions. It will also see Luke Gallows playing his Sex Ferguson character – renamed Tex Ferguson because PG – which the Good Brother has spoken about to Fox Sports:
“It’s a lot of stuff that the guys have been doing for years backstage to entertain each other. I know my character in particular has been an ongoing thing for the better part of a decade. »

The ultimate thrill-ride Wrestlemania 33 is just weeks away – with such eagerly anticipated matches as Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho and Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt. Say what you will about the actual card – you can’t deny that these are feuds that have been patiently built over time. Lesnar vs Goldberg kicked off in November, and both Kevin vs Chris and Orton vs Bray’s storylines date back to August.
WWE is often accused of short-term booking – and that does seem to be the case with episodes of Raw sometimes being redrafted just hours before the show starts – but the overall direction Vince McMahon wants to go in has – this year, at least – been relatively well thought out.
Unfortunately, some of those long-term plans might not be what the fans want.

Big corporate mentalities and fun creative ideas don’t usually work out. Businesses understandably want to make as much money as possible through minimum risk. And because of that, their direction tends to rely on tried and tested, formulaic ideas.
But occasionally, these companies greenlight projects for a low amount of money and then forget all about them. That’s pretty much the story behind how Deadpool got made at 20th Century Fox after 11 year stuck in production development. Luckily for us wrestling fans, two creative projects appear to have slipped under WWE’s radar:
First up is Zack Ryder tweeting:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Skyscraper” will hit theaters on July 13, 2018, Legendary and Universal Pictures announced Wednesday. Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Central Intelligence,” “We’re The Millers”), the 3D action-thriller is produced by Beau Flynn, Johnson and Thurber. “Skyscraper” will star Johnson as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. In China, he finds the tallest and safest building on the planet suddenly ablaze — and he’s being framed for it. The Internet is an incredible invention – an outsourcing of human memory and knowledge. A hive mind for the world, allowing people to communicate around the globe in a matter of microseconds. In my opinion, it’s the biggest social change since the Industrial Revolution. But it’s also responsible for naming a research ship Boaty McBoatFace.
Last year, the Natural Environment Research Council launched a Twitter campaign called #NameOurShip. The Internet gave the most votes to Boaty McBoatFace.
So I don’t know what Tna owners Anthem are thinking asking fans on the Internet to name the owl in their logo, a contest that has now been extended for another week.
Due to the overwhelming amount of submissions, we are extending the contest by 1 week! Next Monday we name a winner! #AnthemOwl pic.twitter.com/Uf7uNj0wiN

Illegal things you can get away with on Smackdown Live. Arson? Give him a Wrestlemania match! Attempted murder? No repercussions! Beating up a McMahon? Whoah – stop right there, pal. We’re going to have to fire you for that one.
Last night’s episode continued the blue brand’s strong build to Wrestlemania, firstly with Daniel Bryan officially making the long-reported mixed gender tag match of John Cena and Nikki Bella vs The Miz and Maryse.
The feud has been using real life material for inspiration, and last night’s Miz TV segment with Maryse was no different:

One of my big problems with WWE Raw these days is that the matches don’t feel like they have stakes. And no, ice cream blueprints don’t count.
So we have to look to wrestling’s lively and innovative independent scene, specifically the promotion WrestlePro – where you can see former WWE star Ryback take on Ring of Honor’s Colt Cabana in a Cm Punk action figure on a pole match.
Thursday, March 30th come to @WrestlePro at the Hyatt at 8:30 pm to see Ryback vs @ColtCabana in a Cm Punk action figure on a pole match! pic.twitter.com/Mrm5vErXh3

Cabana has been friends with Punk since when they broke into the business together, while Ryback found himself a recurring subject in the Straightedge Superstar’s shoot Art of Wrestling podcast. There better be a ‘dumb as f***’ chant’ at that show. »

Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens opened Raw with ‘the talk’. You know, the ‘why did you break up with me and shove my head into an LCD screen’ talk? We’ve all had them. Owens continued the heartbreak from the Festival of Friendship, saying he didn’t stab his best friend in the back, because Jericho was never his best friend.
I don’t believe him, though. I think he really did love Chris. But his own blind ambition has forced him to rationalise otherwise. That’s the true sadness in this story.

Back in 2011, when Cm Punk was the coolest thing on the planet, he demanded WWE bring back their old school ice cream bars as part of his kayfabe contract negotiations. The gimmick even ended with its own t-shirt.
The New Day have since taken this ice cream task upon themselves, but their quest took a dark turn yesterday: bringing out possibly the most horrifying piece of WWE merchandise this side of Daniel Bryan’s beard hat.
The sickeningly green colour, the way they’re all vacantly smiling despite their slowly melting faces – this is a nightmare printed to t-shirt. Perhaps it’s all a clever ‘I Scream’ pun on ‘ice cream’. But that’s no excuse for bringing such horror into this world.
The main news this week has been various wrestlers leaving Tna Impact Wrestling. Not to be outdone, WWE now have one too.

Pro wrestler Jack Swagger requested his release from the WWE on Tuesday. The two-time WWE Champion revealed the news Wednesday to “Beyond the Fight” podcast host Chael Sonnen, referring to the move as “a business decision.” “It’s still kind of an ongoing process right now,” Swagger explained on Episode 96. “Basically, it came down to contract negotiations, and we were way off. They didn’t value me at what I thought I was valued at.” Also Read: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Returns to WWE Ring to Leave Cm Punk a Voicemail (Video) He continued: “They weren’t giving me the opportunity to make the full. »

If, for some bizarre reason, you want to relive The Authority’s first incarnation, you can pick up WWE’s official comic book that’s been detailing Seth Rollins siding with the McMahon-Helmsley faction. In a recent issue, Seth meets up with Triple H on The Game’s evil super-yacht base called The Sea-Rebral Assassin.
I want us all to take a moment to recognise what a solid pun that is.
We also need to recognise another achievement – Ring of Honor’s 15th anniversary.
The promotion’s first show – The Era of Honor Begins – was held on the 23rd February, 2002. The main event had Low Ki defeating Christopher Daniels and Daniel Bryan, with Eddie Guerrero, Super Crazy and Brian Kendrick also on the card.

Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson angered Vince McMahon and Triple H after Raw on Monday night by jokingly trying to FaceTime Cm Punk in front of the Staples Center crowd – who had started chanting the former WWE champion’s name. The Dwayne has since explained on Twitter why he went off script:
I work off instinct, always listen to the people and try to give em something special. Huge positive feedback from @WWE Universe. Fun night https://t.co/4AZFOMFqPw

Relations between Punk and WWE are still very tense even three years after the Straight Edge Superstar walked out of the company. But The Rock doesn’t care. He doesn’t need WWE – he’s the highest grossing movie star of 2016. Rolling Stone were the first to officially break the news before the follow-up announcement on Raw later that day. Of course, Ddp going in was actually broken by PWInsider almost two months ago, but WWE likes to give these exclusives to mainstream news outlets as part of their PR strategy.

Icymi – which is a popular Internet abbreviation for ‘In Case You Missed It’, a time-saving acronym that becomes rather pointless if you then explain what it means… – The Rock appeared at this week’s WWE Raw.
He wasn’t on the actual television broadcast. He only appeared in front of the Staples Center crowd before and after Raw to shoot scenes for his new movie Fighting With My Family, which is based on the life of WWE wrestler and two-time Wellness Policy violator Paige.
They were specifically recreating Paige’s main roster debut, where she won the Divas Title from Aj Lee. This caused the crowd to chant for Lee’s real-life husband Cm Punk. To quell the chants, Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson attempted to FaceTime Punk, leaving a voicemail on his phone.
Unsurprisingly, PWInsider is reporting that “management did not appear to have been happy” when Rock did this »

After WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” went off the air, the crowd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles got a surprise visit from The Rock, who decided to give fans a chance to say “hi” to former wrestler, Ufc fighter Cm Punk. The man known outside the ring as Dwayne Johnson was there to film in-ring scenes for the wrestling movie “Fighting With My Family,” which tells the story of WWE wrestler Paige and how she grew up in a family of pro wrestlers. The film crew was there to film the final scene of the movie, which depicts Paige’s. »
