A: Something or someone that foreshadows a future event,
B: One that initiates a major change: gives an anticipatory sign of what’s to come.
The Curse Of Rosalie from director Will Klipstine, who also stars in the lead role of Daniel Snyder, is an interesting and dense watch. The movie explores so many different elements of horror, crime, demons, tokens, ancient Native American curses and creepy small town neighbors along with a number of twists and turns that you don’t want to blink for a second.
The film starts in familiar territory with a seemingly ‘normal’ young couple moving to a new small town with their troubled young daughter, Rosalie (Madeleine McGraw). You see, Rosalie has endured a fairly recent change which leaves her now with a bit of a nasty chip on her shoulder – to put it mildly. She is very quiet, brooding and not...

New Delhi, Dec 12 (Ians) Global government It spending is likely to reach 588.9 billion in 2023, an increase of 6.8 per cent from 2022, a report showed on Monday.
Software will be the highest growing segment in 2023 followed by It services and internal services, according to Gartner.
“Government organisations are continuing to modernise legacy It and invest in initiatives that improve access to digital services as constituents increasingly demand experiences that are equivalent to online customer interactions in the private sector,” said Daniel Snyder, Director Analyst at Gartner.
The total experience (TX) framework, which helps agencies manage employee and citizen interactions, is enabling transformation and will remain among the main drivers of It spending in 2023, he added.
Next year, government It spending is forecast to increase across all segments except devices, as government end-users extend the useful life of their devices that were acquired at the onset of the pandemic.

When a topic gets the Oliver Stone treatment, it typically means that it's a controversial subject getting a cinematic deep dive into its origins. He's seemingly left no stone unturned, exploring topics like 1980s greed ("Wall Street"), the Vietnam War ("Born on the Fourth of July" and "Platoon"), the Kennedy assassination ("JFK"), and illegal surveillance ("Snowden").
For two decades, the director had professional football on his radar, dating back to an early 1980s project titled "The Linebacker," which would have starred Charles Bronson. In 1999, Stone's vision of the NFL finally came to fruition with "Any Given Sunday." By then, the game had changed exponentially from the time Charles Bronson was an A-lister in Hollywood. Player side hustles were replaced by multi-million-dollar advertising deals. The allure of "Monday Night Football" was supplanted by around-the-clock coverage on cable and SportsCenter highlights almost on the hour. What did that exposure mean for the modern athlete?...

If boycotts, Congressional hearings or basic human decency weren't enough to convince Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder that it was time to change his team's name, perhaps Wednesday's decision by the U.S. Patent Office will do the trick.
U.S. Patent Office Cancels Washington Redskins Trademark
Calling the name "disparaging of Native Americans," the Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board canceled federal trademark registrations owned by the team, a move which could cost them millions in merchandise revenue (the team is expected to appeal the decision). And nothing hurts...

For several years now, some Native-American groups have protested the nickname of one of the NFL’s signature franchises: the Washington Redskins. The Kansas City Chiefs, apparently, are acceptable, but Redskins, to many Native-Americans, is a derogatory term. It’s also been the name of the Washington football franchise since 1937 and, thus, is a billion-dollar brand for the league.
Before the Super Bowl earlier this year, the National Congress of American Indians posted a video online, titled “Proud to Be,” urging the league to change Washington’s nickname. On Tuesday night, during halftime of ABC’s telecast of the NBA Finals,...

Since Daniel Snyder bought the Washington Redskins in 1999, the team has had seven head coaches — and it’s about to be eight. After their 13th loss of the season to the New York Giants on Dec. 29, the decision was made to fire head coach Mike Shanahan.

Orly Adelson, president of Dick Clark Prods, will be leaving the production company to join ITV‘s U.S. production unit ITV Studios America as president. Adelson, a respected producer, joined Dick Clark in 2008 shortly after the company was bought by Daniel Snyder’s Red Zone Capital Management. Last year, following Clark’s death, dcp was sold again to a partnership of investors. Allen Shapiro came in as CEO, with his long-time collaborator, Michael Mahan, following him this spring when he was named President of DC Media, the parent company of Dick Clark Prods. That created some confusion with both Mahan and Adelson carrying a president title, but the two worked well together for the past few months. Mahan is now expected to take over all of Adelson’s responsibilities when she leaves in a month or two for a streamlined top management at Dick Clark. Meanwhile, Adelson is getting...

Thanks to a growing controversy over whether or not the Washington Redskins' name is offensive, several media outlets have decided to stop using the NFL team's name altogether. It remains questionable, however, if this will have any impact on the football team.
It's not just a public perception issue either. A federal lawsuit alleging that the name constitutes a racial slur against Native Americans is pending. Figures in the city of Washington and in the football world have questioned the choice to keep the name.
Now, the journalists have joined in.
As of Friday (Aug. 9), at least eight publications had formally stated that they would no longer print the name "Redskins." ThinkProgress, Slate, The New Republic, Mother Jones, the Washington City Paper, DCist, the Kansas City Star and the Buffalo News. Few of these publications are known for their in-depth football coverage, but it may be the beginning of a movement.

The evolution of the title character in Captain America: The First Avenger in four images
Photo: Paramount Pictures This year has seen three superhero films hit the multiplexes and not one of them has been a breakout hit. Worse yet, for Marvel's upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, each superhero film released this year has done worse than the one before it. That cannot be good news for Marvel as they get ready to unleash The First Avenger onto the silver screen on July 22nd.
There have been many theories why this year's crop of comic book adaptations have failed to catch the public's imagination. Some people argue Hollywood has done what Hollywood always does with any successful genre, and cranked out so many superhero flicks that film fans are just plain sick and tired of men wearing tights and capes and are simply burned out. I think that is partially true but then again,...

New York -- "So You Think You Can Dance" has been a hit with reality television fans, but will junk bond investors be willing to bet on the series?
Dick Clark Prods., home to the Fox TV dance competition and awards shows like the Golden Globe Awards, will find out this week as it attempts to sell about $150 million of first lien notes in the junk bond market, the latest of a slew of companies taking advantage of growing appetite for risky debt.

Moody's assigned the new notes a rating of B2, the fifth-highest junk rating, citing the company's reliance on just four annual shows and the dance competition.

Documentary takes a poignant look at the screenwriter's struggle.
In December, 2007, the quirky low-budget film 'Juno' became a national sensation and box-office smash, winning fame and an Oscar for its screenwriter Diablo Cody, an inexperienced, ex-stripper and blogger. Aspiring screenwriters took heart on Sunday night: a spec script won an Academy Award. Dustin Lance Black spent years researching the life of Harvey Milk and writing a script, all on his own dime, before crossing paths with director Gus Van Sant.
Upon such triumphs do thousands of would-be Hollywood scenarists base their dreams. The odds are heavily stacked against them. Daniel Snyder once worked alongside Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary at a video store, so he knows a little bit about impossible dreams. For his documentary Dreams on Spec, Snyder followed three aspiring screenwriters for a full year: David, who works at a talent agency; Joe, who day trades in the morning and writes the night away; and Deborah, a laid-off development executive struggling to get her project off the ground. Snyder also interviewed a host of successful writers, including superstars like James L. Brooks, Nora Ephron, and Carrie Fisher.
