Live by Night Final Trailer: Ben Affleck Goes Gangster
Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for the upcoming Live By Night, which could be an early awards season candidate. Oscar winner Ben Affleck (Argo) directed and stars in this dramatic crime thriller. Affleck also wrote the screenplay, based on the award-winning best-seller by Dennis Lehane. This film marks the second collaboration for the fellow Boston natives, following the acclaimed drama Gone Baby Gone.

What you put out into this world will always come back to you, but it never comes back how you predict. Taking fatherly advice is not in Joe Coughlin's nature. Joe's not all bad, though; in fact, he's not really bad enough for the life he's chosen.

Unlike the gangsters he refuses to work for, he has a sense of justice and an open heart, and both work against him,

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reunite for Whitey Bulger Biopic

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reunite for Whitey Bulger Biopic
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are set to reunite once more with a new biopic on the notorious crime figure Whitey Bulger for Warner Bros. Ben Affleck will direct, co-star, and produce the untitled biopic, while Matt Damon will star as Whitey Bulger. Casey Affleck has also landed a supporting role.

Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter is writing the screenplay, which will span Whitey Bulger's entire life, from childhood through his rise up the Boston criminal ranks and becoming an FBI informant. Whitey Bulger was a notorious Boston crime figure who disappeared in 1994 after he learned the FBI was going to arrest him. He was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List for 12 of his 16 years on the lam, before his arrest last June in Santa Monica, California. Jack Nicholson's Frank Costello character in The Departed is loosely based on Whitey Bulger. Here's what Ben Affleck had to say about the project below.

Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ Adds Michael Parks, Clea DuVall, Richard Kind; Official Synopsis Revealed
Warner Bros has sent out the obligatory press release to announce the commencement of filming on Ben Affleck's third film as director, Argo. We've known most of the cast for a while: Affleck, Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, and John Goodman, with more recent additions Kyle Chandler, Tate Donovan, Rory Cochrane and Taylor Schilling. Now we've got an official synopsis for the film, which adapts the true story of a CIA team that posed as a film crew in order to extract diplomats from Tehran in 1979. But perhaps of more interest to some who already know the story is the confirmation of cast additions that include the great Michael Parks (above), as well as Clea Duvall and Richard Kind. I can't really do better than the press release, which goes like this: Based on true events, "Argo" chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the

Chris Messina, Michael Parks, Richard Kind and More Complete Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ Cast as Production Begins

  • The Film Stage
With production beginning today on Ben Affleck‘s hostage thriller Argo, Warner Bros. lets us know of a few new players added to the cast. We’ve already got Affleck starring alongside Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Kerry Bishé, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Scoot McNairy and Taylor Schilling. Three names stood out for me as new additions though in the press release.

Richard Kind (A Serious Man), Chris Messina (Away We Go) and Michael Parks (who is in Kevin Smith‘s Red State, on VOD today), round out the rest of the major actors. There is no word on what specific roles they play, but these are three of my favorite character actors and it is nice to see Affleck make these additions. After mostly enjoying The Town and loving Gone Baby Gone, I’m looking forward to this one.
