The Voice Performance Recap: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About (Top) Six [Updated]

2 December 2013 7:33 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

When it comes to warm fuzzies, good vibrations and positive feedback, The Voice has a coaching panel that’s second to none.

Nevertheless, if you listen verrrrry carefully, you can hear their withering subtext, their coded messages to the viewing public in favor of one contestant or in opposition to another.

Take Blake Shelton’s repeated mentions tonight that it’s not just about hitting big notes full-on (a subtle put-down of Jacquie Lee?) or Adam Levine essentially telling Matthew Schuler he peaked with his Top 12 week cover of “Hallelujah.”

X Factor: Kingsland Road eliminated as Taylor Swift, Little Mix perform

3 November 2013 12:56 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

The latest act to be eliminated from The X Factor has been revealed.

Kingsland Road exited the show following a sing-off with Tamera Foster. The result means that Gary Barlow has only one finalist remaining in his Groups category.

The boyband took on James Morrison's 'I Won't Let You Go' in a bid to keep their place in the competition, while Foster performed Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing'.

Nicole Scherzinger was the first judge to vote and opted to send home Kingsland Road, while Barlow stuck by his act and voted to send home Foster.

Impartial judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne voted to send home Barlow's act, adding that Foster had more potential in the competition.

Asked by host Dermot O'Leary about their experience, they said: "We loved it. Thank you Gary for everything."

Barlow added: "These guys were together for two years before they joined us. »

Kingsland Road were voted off 'The X Factor' tonight (03.11.13). The east London boy band - which includes members Josh, Matt, Connor, Thompson and Jay - were ousted from the ITV competition by judges Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, after an ''incredible'' sing-off against 16-year-old solo singer Tamera Foster. Asked about their experience, they said: ''We loved it. Thank you Gary for everything.'' The group's mentor Gary Barlow, who only has one finalist left, was upset that both acts landed in the bottom two but opted to save the boys after they performed 'I Won't Let You Go' by James Morrison. X Factor 2013: Disco Week results live blog: As it happened

3 November 2013 11:00 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Disco! Who doesn't love it, eh? Well, one of tonight's acts probably won't be feeling so fond of the good times or the boogie by the end of the evening as another X Factor elimination looms.

With the Flash Vote gone, not only are audiences deprived of bursts of Queen at regular and inappropriate intervals during live shows, but we have absolutely no bloomin' idea who's going to be in the sing-off tonight. Could there be Deadlock drama on the horizon? We will have to wait and see.

One thing's for sure - expect performances from 2011 X Factor winners Little Mix and trouble herself, Ms Taylor Swift. Join Digital Spy from 8pm to find out who's going home.

20:57Next week, we are to expect a full orchestra, Robbie Williams and Celine Dion. But it's the End of the (Kingsland) Road for Josh, Matt, Jay, Thompson and Connor - and their busy patterned shirts. »

“American Idol” Finale: So You Think You Candice?

17 May 2013 6:44 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Did Candice pull off a win? And did Adam Lambert pull off his mascara? (Yes.)

“Candice, why you gotta make this all about you?”

Look. You can pretend the Idol finale is some grandiose, tasteless, freakish spectacle. You can even think that logically. Because it’s true and undeniable and shut up about it. But you can’t deny that the Idol finale reminds you — for a few shimmery moments — that these competitors are viable mainstream singers whether or not they actually end up being successful. They can work alongside real industry vets and not look miscast in their shadows. I dig that — especially when some of the veterans (Mariah Carey and guest performer Jennifer Lopez, in this case) look less than professional as they lip-sync their hits (and non-hits, in the case of poor Jennifer) to the horrified awe of millions. Come on, Mariah! You nail “My All” and »
