He started off as the lead singer of The Stone Roses along with best mates John Squire, Mani and Reni in 1986 but finally got their big break in 1989 when they released their legendary self-titled debut album. The band released the long awaited follow up "Second Comming" in 1994 which was slammed instantly by the critics. In 1995 shortly after the departure of Reni, John Squire left the band to form The Seahorses which was a big for The Stone Roses. However Ian and Mani Marched on for a couple of months until Mani left in 1996 to join Primal Scream and The Roses were no more.

In 1998 Ian Brown embarked on a very successful solo career and after several albums is still going strong. 2005 was his biggest year to date with the release of his Greatest Hits album and appearing at several music festivals such as T in the park and Glastonbury.

Their have been many rumors of a Stone Roses reunion and although John, Reni and Mani sound up for it Ian Brown has slammed the idea several times.
