The March 23 episode will focus on Richard Alpert and – God willing – we'll finally get to learn more about his backstory. From recent episodes I think it's safe to assume what many had suspected – that Richard is somehow tied to the Black Rock ship (possibly as a slave on the ship), that Jacob seemed to "gift" him with immortality. From the synopsis below we can see that both Jacob and the Man in Black will be making appearances, so flashbacks to Richard's life are probably likely.
I like the side-ways universe but, as I told Doc Arzt last night, I'd rather the show be focusing on the island and solving its mysteries than showing us another universe with familiar characters. We still don't know how or why the never-crash universe is important and I'm getting kind of antsy. So if a Richard-centric episode will focus on the island, then I'm all for it. »
