Hilliard grew up in Palo Alto, California - not the Stanford side, but the east side, the "Dangerous Minds" side. His parents were fully behind him when he surprisingly won a lead role at the Professional Children's Theater at age twelve. He soon got the acting bug and dedicated himself to becoming a triple threat. By the time he finished high school he had a SAG Card, moved to San Francisco and was earning good a living in theater, commercials and Music Videos.
Hilliard relocated to LA in early 1996, and landed Guest spots and recurring roles on TV shows such as City of Angels, The Power Rangers, The Pretender, Pensacola Wings of Gold and All About Us. Coming from an acting background, screenwriting was a natural progression... Hilliard has studied with: John Truby, Jack Epps, Karl Iglesias, Howard Skora, Elizabeth Cosin, David Wyatt, Brad Schreiber and Ken Rotbop. In 2007, he completed the Bill Cosby TV Writers Fellowship and the 2008 Nickelodeon Writer's Lab.
Hilliard's film scripts are: "Rebel Yell," a drama about an American DJ tracing his roots back to 1960s England. In 2007, the screenplay was the First Place Winner at the FIN Screenwriter's Competition and Won Honorable Mention at 2006 Screenplay Festival's Competition. An earlier draft made the Final Cut at the 2003 Sundance Institute Feature Program and was a Quarterfinalist at 2003 Scriptapalooza Contest.
In 2005 his action/urban cop drama "Section 8," about a cop determined to solve a bloody murder, advanced to the Quarterfinals of The Nicholl Fellowships For Screenwriting.
Hilliard co-wrote and co-produced the horror film "Blackout," about a man haunted by the ghost of his murdered wife, with Vivamorem Entertainment. It received a straight-to-video release in 2006.
Hilliard has several TV Spec scripts. In 2007, his "Boston Legal" was a Semifinalist at Creative Screenwriting Magazine's AAA TV Competition, a Semifinalist at Scriptapalooza TV Competition and was a Quarterfinalist at Screenwriter's Expo. In 2006, his "Entourage" was a Quarterfinalist at both Scriptapalooza TV and Creative Screenwriting Magazine's AAA TV Competition. He also has a "Cold Case."
Hilliard has three original TV Pilots: "Sweetzer Avenue," a dramedy about two roommates from opposite sides of the tracks, "Stranded," a drama about an urban family in the crisis of their lives, and "Hunter's Point," (Finalist at 2008 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards - Finalist at 2008 OBS Competition - 3rd Place at 2008 FIN Competition) a drama about a cop who hunts down killers.. one gang at a time.
