How Guillermo del Toro’s version of Pacific Rim 2 was originally going to end

The sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 mecha-kaiju-brawler Pacific Rim has come a long way from its humble beginnings. The movie was originally helmed by Del Toro until he ultimately decided to step down. The reason for this seems to boil down to scheduling: due to Legendary Pictures being sold to Chinese company The Wanda Group, production needed to be delayed by nearly a year. It was then that Daredevil’s Steven DeKnight took over directorial duties. Since then, the film has undergone a massive makeover, which is clearly evident in the first trailer.

So, what would have Guillermo’s film have looked like? Speaking to Collider. Paul Austerberry — who served as production designer for the original Pacific Rim — revealed how Pacific Rim 2 was originally going to end:

“And then of course I think we finished in the west coast, I think it was San Francisco that we were gonna end up in.

Pacific Rim Uprising director says a crossover with Godzilla and King Kong is a possibility

Back in September when it was first announced that Legendary Pictures were planning a shared universe between Godzilla and King Kong, rumours surfaced about the possibility of the studio bringing Pacific Rim’s Jaegers and Kaiju into the mix for a crossover of monster proportions.

Since then, we’ve heard nothing else about the prospect; however, Steven S. DeKnight, director of the upcoming sequel Pacific Rim Uprising, has revealed to Collider that talks have taken place and there is a chance that the crossover could become a reality.

“I won’t say there’s an Easter Egg but there’s been a lot of discussion about that possibility [of crossing over],” said DeKnight. “Look I think it would be fantastic to have the Pacific Rim universe join Legendary’s Monster Universe, it seems like a natural step. And part of the big overall plan after the third movie we’ve talked about is that could happen,

Pacific Rim Uprising a “launching pad” for a shared universe

Following the release of the first trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising, Nerdist caught up with director Steven S. DeKnight to discuss the film, with DeKnight revealing that the plan is for the sequel to serve as a “launching pad” for an entire transmedia franchise featuring movies, spinoff films, comics and even an animated series.

“I’m certainly hoping so,” said DeKnight. “I think you’ll definitely probably get more comics. The plan was always to use this movie as a launching pad. If enough people show up to this, we’ve already talked about the plot of the third movie, and how the end of the third movie would expand the universe to a Star Wars/Star Trek-style [franchise] where you can go in many, many different directions. You can go main canon, you can go spin-offs, you can go one-offs. Yeah, that’s the plan. And I would love

Full Trailer for Tribal Battle Action Film 'The Veil' Starring William Levy

"When I was young, I fought to survive. But with time, everything changed..." Vertical Entertainment has debuted a trailer for an action film titled The Veil, set in a "war-torn land where tribal factions live in fear of annihilation." Cuban actor William Levy stars as a deadly warrior who is betrayed and left for dead by his own tribe. He is healed by a mysterious princess and taken in by a secret tribe, only to go back and wage war against his own people. This seems like one of those cliche "tribal battle" movies that doesn't have much to offer. The cast includes Serinda Swan, William Moseley, Nick Tarabay, Adam Gregory, and Billy Blair. I don't feel like anyone actually watches these kind of action movies anymore, but what do I know? Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Brent Ryan Green's The Veil, direct from YouTube: Set in

'Arrow's Season 5 Finale Brings Oliver's Journey Full Circle and Ends on a Jaw-Dropping Cliffhanger
Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Arrow’s epic season five finale!

Did Arrow just kill, um, everyone?!

The CW’s Og superhero drama came full circle on Wednesday's season finale, returning Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) -- and literally every other person in his life -- back to Lian Yu, the deadly island in the South China Sea where, five years ago, a shipwrecked playboy emerged as the vigilante that would become the Green Arrow.

Oliver and his motley crew of enemies-turned-allies -- Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Digger Harkness (Nick E. Tarabay) and Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) -- traveled to the island in pursuit of the Green Arrow’s actual friends and loved ones, all of whom were being held as pawns in Adrian Chase’s twisted game of vengeance. After a double cross or two, an unexpected sacrifice (Merlyn, in his one

Design and Specs Revealed For The Gypsy Avenger Jaeger in Pacific Rim: Uprising

A new promo poster and photo of an action figure has surfaced online for the new Gypsy Avenger jaeger that will be introduced in Steven S. DeKnight's Pacific Rim: Uprising. This is basically an upgraded version of the Gypsy Danger that we saw in Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.

There's a good chance that this jaeger will be the one piloted by John Boyega's character Jake Pentecost and Scott Eastwood as Nate Lambert. On top of the design of the Gypsy Avenger, the poster also reveals some specs for the jaeger, which includes 2.0 versions of the Elbow Rockets and the Chain Sword that we saw used in the first version of the Gypsy Danger.

The Gypsy Avengers also includes and Airborne Launch System and a dual vortex turbine in its chest. That's gotta give this thing some wicked power as the Gypsy Danger only has a single turbine.

Charlie Hunnam explains why he’s not in Pacific Rim: Uprising

While Pacific Rim: Uprising will see the return of a number of familiar faces from the 2013 sci-fi blockbuster, one person who is sitting out the sequel is Charlie Hunnam, and during an interview with Den of Geek to promote his new film The Lost City of Z, the British actor has revealed why he won’t be back as Raleigh Becket.

“There was a huge scheduling conflict, I was already really, really invested in doing Papillion.,” said Hunnam. “What happened was Legendary was sold to Wanda, which is the big Chinese corporation, and Pacific Rim, although it underperformed in other territories in the world, was an enormous success in China, all of a sudden, it became their primary focus to make this and they wanted to do it very, very rapidly… I think their schedule subsequently changed, and I might have been able to do both, but at that time,

Guillermo del Toro on why he didn’t return for Pacific Rim: Uprising

Pacific Rim released in 2013 to largely positive reviews, and while the box-office was disappointing for a summer blockbuster, many fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since. On and off, over the years, we have heard ideas being thrown around about sequels until we finally got an official announcement in the form of Pacific Rim: Uprising.

All was well until it was announced that Guillermo del Toro wouldn’t be returning to the director’s chair (a position subsequently filled by Steven S. DeKnight). Recently, in an interview with Collider, Del Toro opened up about what made him decide to pass the torch:

“The timing started to suck. I had this little movie that I wanted to do—The Shape of Water—very, very much. At one point it was Justice League Dark or Pacific Rim, I said, ‘Let’s go to Pacific Rim.’ The reality is they said,
