MasterChef: The Professionals

8pm, BBC2

The Professionals have been to Heston's hell and back in their final week, thrown in at the deep end with the liquid nitrogen down at the Fat Duck. Now they face one final challenge: cooking three courses of fault-free food for Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace. It's a proposition that's scarier than that sea urchin skills test, but they've got the potential to pull some real blinders out of the bag. High standards all round this series, with many dishes earning the ultimate Wallace accolade: "yummy" indeed. Hannah Verdier

Britain's Hidden Housing Crisis

TV Review: Eighth Season Puts ‘House M.D.’ in a New Place

Chicago – As long as Hugh Laurie limps in the shoes of Dr. Gregory House, the Fox TV nation will show up, because it’s a great actor taking a memorable character and and putting him in often strange and unexpected situations. The eighth season premiere of “House M.D.” on October 3rd is no exception.

TV Rating: 4.0/5.0

The premiere is juicy, because Gregory House is in jail – where I suspect even his hardcore fans believe he belongs. This new atmosphere is Kafka-esque, which adds a new twist to how the crabby disease-detecting doctor will operate. All the fine tuned elements of the House character are here, except the physician that is used to getting his way now will have to contend with shivs and stoolies, including the stunt casting of the former Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) as a cellblock procurer.

At the end of the seventh season, Gregory House (Hugh Laurie

My Generation: Cancelled Show Thoughts from Jaime King and Creator Noah Hawley

Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night's episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey's Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?

My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O'Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.

With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn't happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by

My Generation: ABC TV Show Cancelled After Two Episodes

Despite a lot of promotion, My Generation stumbled out of the gate and now ABC has cancelled it after two episodes. If you were watching the ratings, this doesn't come as a surprise.

My Generation revolves around a diverse group of young adults who attended high school together. While there, they were interviewed for a documentary. They reunite 10 years later and we see how their lives and expectations have changed. The ensemble cast includes Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, and Sebastian Sozzi.

In its first week on the air, My Generation attracted poor ratings with a 1.6 in the 18-49 demographic and 5.2 million total viewers. That was bad enough to land it in fourth place for both categories.

For week two, the numbers were much worse.

Do you like to attend your class reunions, to see what everyone looks like and is doing? Well, ABC is hoping that you'll want to watch their new show, My Generation. It's about a group that comes together after high school. Will this one last for years or is it doomed to be expelled... er, cancelled?

My Generation follows a diverse group of young adults who, while in high school, were all interviewed for a documentary. They reunite 10 years later and we see how their lives have changed and, in most cases, haven't turned out as expected. The ensemble cast includes Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, Julian Morris, Keir O'Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, and Sebastian Sozzi.

The premiere got off to a very poor start. Per the overnights, My Generation landed in fourth place in both the targeted 18-49

My Generation Series Premiere Review (Season 1 Episode 1): Pilot

The My Generation series premiere presents viewers with an ambitious character dynamic. Much like Modern Family, the series employs a dramatic-mockumentary lens to explore America’s changing landscape over the last 10 years. However, instead of dealing with a small nucleus of the population, My Generation captures a more expansive view of our changing society through nine very diverse sets of eyes. Each character has been affected by anything from prejudice and 9-11 to Enron and election mishaps. The cast includes Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield, Numb3rs), Julian Morris (24), Mehcad Brooks (True Blood), Kelli Garner (Going the Distance), Jaime King (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Keir O'Donnell (Sons of Anarchy), Sebastian Sozzi (Law & Order), Daniella Alonso (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Anne Son (ER). Each character has his or her moment to shine in this ensemble series, making this one show to look out for this Fall. My Generation begins with ...

My Generation TV Review

ABC‘s My Generation has a very tough road ahead, and most of its difficulty comes from an overabundance of drama and competition. Up against The Big Bang Theory, Bones, Community, and Vampire Diaries, the target audience is spread awfully thin. More importantly, while the show had me pretty interested for some twenty to thirty minutes, the pilot’s theory of piling on drama as we continue peeling the onion ultimately became too much to handle.

The show takes us through the fake documentary of a select group of people who were originally caught on tape when they were seniors at Greenbelt High School in Austin, TX. The makers of that documentary footage are now catching up with their former subjects, to see what has happened to them over the last decade.

With convenient labels attached to them during their High School years (Jock, Wallflower, Nerd, etc.), we get to see how those stereotypes,

'My Generation' review: Endearing, but needs time to mature

There's something about the nostalgia of young adulthood in ABC's "My Generation" that makes it endearing, which can make one feel alternately fond of and rather embarrassed for the characters.

The concept is simple, nine graduating Greenbelt High School seniors get filmed for a documentary in 2000, and a decade later, the cameras are back to see what progress they've made, what dreams they've fulfilled, what lessons they've learned. What was once an unknown, exciting and bright future has become the reality that unfolds on TV, and often it's not what was expected or planned.

Nine people around the same age can be difficult to keep track of, which is why it's nice that the show cast people who look fairly different from each other and also give us handy labels such as "nerd" for us to remember them by.

Very quickly, a before and after 2000/2010:

Rolly Marks (Mehcad Brooks) - Jock,

TV Review: ABC’s ‘My Generation’ Wastes Talented Cast on Cliche

Chicago – The new ABC dramedy “My Generation” is all concept and no execution. Creator Noah Hawley (the vastly-superior “The Unusuals”) came up with an idea and found a talented cast and the creativity died shortly thereafter. The foundation is a clever and inspired one but the writing staff adds nothing more than cliche to it, piling on characters who feel barely two-dimensional and rarely finding a genuine moment in the lackluster and bloated series premiere.

Television Rating: 1.5/5.0

The show opens with its high-concept set-up. A documentary crew visited a high school in 2000 and found a bunch of cliches like the nerd, the brain, the rich kid, and the rock star. And that’s not this critic diminishing the characters — the doc-within-a-show literally labels them in those broad terms. Of course, the concept is that very few of us are exactly what we were in high school. So, how have these

My Generation Series Premiere Review

Following the rousing success of Modern Family’s debut last season, ABC originally slotted two new mockumentaries for this fall: Detroit 1-8-7 and My Generation. Over the summer, 1-8-7 dropped the structure, which is not the one I would’ve picked if polled.

But for better or worse, the format is more integral to Generation, which catches up with a group of 28-year-olds ten years after they graduated from an Austin, Texas high school together in the year 2000. An interesting premise, to be sure, and one I was looking forward to. My review after the jump.

The cameras follow nine main characters:

The Falcon, “The Rock Star” (Sebastian Sozzi)

A blustery figure who struggles to make it in the music industry. When he returns home, he immediately reconnects with…

Steven, “The Overachiever” (Michael Stahl-David)

A youth who once dreamt of the presidency and now tends bar in Hawaii. As it turns out,

Pilot Review – ‘My Generation’

My Generation premieres this Thursday @8/7c on ABC.

Back in May when the promo for ABC’s My Generation was released to the press, I felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me in an instant, as if the show was speaking to me personally about my life post high school graduation. In short, I was already won over. With my first high school class reunion coming up next year, I felt that My Generation was a perfect mirror for me to reflect on the ten years that had passed by revisiting the times through the eyes of these nine characters. Well, I was wrong (but not in a bad way), because My Generation follows the Class of 2000, I graduated in 2001. Oops.

That date mixup didn’t deter my enjoyment, however, of the pilot for the ABC dramedy/mockumentary, which centers around nine high school archetypes (the jock, the beauty queen,

'My Generation': Preview ABC's documentary-style ensemble dramedy

"My Generation" is a faux-documentary about a group of high school students and where they are in their lives 10 years after they graduated.

It stars Michael Stahl-David ("The Black Donnellys"), Kelli Garner ("Lars and the Real Girl"), Jaime King ("The Class"), Keir O'Donnell ("Sons of Anarchy"), Sebastian Sozzi ("Choke"), Mehcad Brooks ("The Deep End," "True Blood"), Anne Son ("Wake"), Daniella Alonso ("Friday Night Lights") and Julian Morris ("24," "ER"). "My Generation" was created and written by Noah Hawley ("The Unusuals," "Bones"), who is also an executive producer.

What a difference ten years can make. In 2000, a documentary crew follows a disparate group of high schoolers from Greenbelt High School in Austin, TX as they prepare for graduation, then revisits these former classmates ten years later as they return home to rediscover that just because they're not where they planned doesn't mean they're not right where they need to be.

These students
