Kathy Najimy has joined the cast of Mike Roma’s “Dating My Mother,” TheWrap has learned. The “Veep” star joins the indie comedy alongside Kathryn Erbe (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), James Le Gros (“Girls”) and Paul Iacono (MTV’s “The Hard Times of Rj Berger”). Roma serves as writer-director on the project, which is about the close bond between a single mother (Erbe) and her gay son, played by newcomer Patrick Reilly. The film was produced by Dark Factory’s Daniel Posada along with Jason Tamasco, Alex Garcia and Topher Grace, and was directed by Isaac Rentz. It stars Grace, Lauren Lapkus, Alona Tal, Taye Diggs, Anne Heche, J.C. Chasez, Rob Riggle, Paul Scheer, Brian Husky and Lesli Margherita.
“Opening Night” had its world premiere earlier this month at the La film Festival. Grace portrays a failed Broadway star turned stage manager who must wrangle the eccentric cast and crew of a new production, to save the show’s opening night.
The film received third party offers for distribution but, after evaluation, Dark Factory decided to self-distribute through the new Little Luca distribution label.
