Telling the story of the My Lai massacre that was carried out by Us soldiers in Vietnam, Oliver Stone’s film Pinkville has been stalled for several years now. While it originally sported a cast that included Bruce Willis and Woody Harrelson, various things, including the WGA strike of fall 2007, kept it from being made in its original form.
But the project may not be dead, after all. As a story at IGN (via /Film) tells us that Stone is considering casting his Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps lead Shia Labeouf for the crucial role of helicopter pilot Hugh Thompson, which was originally planned for Channing Tatum.
Nothing else has been said regarding this casting, other than the interesting piece of news saying that Labeouf has an interest in the subject matter since his father was himself a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Otherwise, no news regarding funding or shooting has come to light. »

It.s been a little more than three years since Oliver Stone was forced to cancel his highly anticipated Pinkville because of the writer.s strike, and with Southeast Asia as the main set location and a slew of big name actors like Woody Harrelson, Bruce Willis, Michael Pitt and Channing Tatum involved, no serious plans ever came together to revisit the project. It just takes so much money, effort and schedule coordinating to put in place a big budget film that whenever they implode, the idea of getting new positive momentum is daunting. But Pinkville may not be quite as dead as it once seemed. According to IGN, Wall Street 2.s Blu-Ray commentary track contains a discussion between Oliver Stone and Shia Labeouf about revisiting the long dormant drama. The story is based on a United States Army helicopter pilot who intervened during a massacre of unarmed civilians »

Each week Channing Tatum Unwrapped will post one or more of our favorite pictures of the uber beautiful Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Ever wonder what a Tatum Christmas looks like? Well, here’s an exclusive sneak peek inside that only CTU’ers get to see.
It’s no surprise that Chan and Jenna’s holiday festivities are full of love, awesome gifts, shiny gold tinsel crowns, and yummy food, but I have to say I wasn’t expecting a dog watching TV…
Mama Kay, who was nice enough to send me these pics of Chan, Jenna, and their dogs Lulu and Meeka celebrating at their house for Christmas, tells me that Chan’s dog Lulu is an avid TV watcher. Back in 2007, Oliver Stone was ready to begin shooting "Pinkville," based on the infamous 1968 My Lai Massacre, in which upward of 500 people - mostly women, children and the elderly - were killed by Us soldiers. Despite having most pieces in place, including a cast comprised of Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson, Michael Pena, Xzibit, Michael Pitt, Toby Jones, Jason Behr and Cam Gigandet, "Pinkville" was one of many films that fell apart due to the writers strike. Now, on the commentary track of "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" Blu-ray, Stone revealed that he and Shia Labeouf have discussed reuniting for "Pinkville." The director said that Labeouf is interested in exploring the subject matter because his father was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. It's likely that Labeouf would play Hugh Thompson, the role Tatum was initially set to play. Thompson was the Us Army helicopter pilot who stopped the massacre »

In 2007, Oliver Stone was prepping to shoot Pinkville, a film about the Vietnam War's My Lai Massacre. Bruce Willis and Woody Harrelson were set to star before the 2007-08 writers' strike derailed production. It seemed like Pinkville might be shelved forever, but Stone may have found the ticket to revive the project: Shia Labeouf. Stone revealed in the commentary track for the Blu-ray release of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps that he and Labeouf have discussed reuniting to film Pinkville. Labeouf is drawn to the subject matter because his father was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. More after the jump: The My Lai Massacre designates the murder of approximately 350-500 unarmed South Vietnamese citizens by a U.S. Army unit on March 16, 1968. Many of the victims were beaten, tortured, or sexually abused. Early guesswork puts Labeouf in the role of Hugh Thompson who was, like Labeouf's dad, a helicopter pilot. »

For several years, Oliver Stone has been toying with a new Vietnam War film called Pinkville, which would be oriented around the Mai Lai Massacre of 1968. In 2007 the movie seemed on the verge of shooting. It had a cast: Bruce Willis, Woody Harrelson, Michael Pitt, Channing Tatum, Michael Pena and more. But the writer's strike put a block in front of the film, and it never got back on track. Now, Oliver Stone says on the commentary track for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps that he has talked to Shia Labeouf about acting in Pinkville. IGN [1] reports the mention and suggests that Mr. LeBeouf would take the role formerly set for Channing Tatum: Hugh Thompson, a Us Army helicopter pilot. Pinkville could be a very difficult film. It is based around a massacre where Us forces were the bad guys, and while Vietnam isn't the hot-button issue it once was, »

One of the films we lamented falling apart in our Ten Dead Projects We'd Like To See Resurrected feature was Oliver Stone's My Lai massacre pic "Pinkville." Originally set to star Bruce Willis, Woody Harrelson, Channing Tatum, Michael Peña and Cam Gigandet, the 2007 writer's strike put a huge snag into updates and touch-ups so United Artists shut down the production at almost the last minute. It was a picture that would've found Stone working with some very comfortable subject matter and the cast he had set to go was certainly enticing. Well, as it turns out, it may come… »
