Buddy Merrill was born on July 16, 1936 in Torrey, Utah, USA as Leslie Merrill Behunin Jr. He was previously married to Connie Albright, Ruth Graham and Faye Philpott.

Has recorded over 25 albums in his career
His original treatment of "Busy Bee", an adaptation of "Flight Of The Bumblebee" has been used in various television and motion picture soundtracks
Started playing steel guitar with his father's western band, The Fremont River Rangers in 1947. Also in 1947, he and his father (Les Merrill) made history in Salt Lake City by being the first country artists to appear (live) on television station KDYL. Buddy was 11 years old at that time.
Wrote a suite for symphonic orchestra entitled "The Living Sea" which is used for film productions in London
Played guitar/steel guitar on the Lawrence Welk Show for 19 years.
