NBC Orders Jenna Bans’ Crime Drama ‘Good Girls’ to Series, Lead Role to Be Recast

NBC has ordered the Jenna Bans crime drama “Good Girls” to series, Variety has learned.

The series is about three “good girl” suburban wives and mothers who suddenly find themselves in desperate circumstances and decide to stop playing it safe, risking everything to take their power back. The cast includes Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Manny Montana, Reno Wilson, Lidya Jewerr, Izzy Stannard, and Zach Gilford. Kathleen Rose Perkins was originally set to star in the series, but her role will be recast.

Bans will write and executive produce the series, with Dean Parisot directing the pilot and executive producing. Jeannine Renshaw also executive produces. Bans is currently under an overall deal with Universal Television, the studio behind “Good Girls.” She set her deal this past summer. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Three New Posters Revealed

While some DC Comics fans flock to watch the new “Justice League” trailer, the Marvel crowd can sneak a peek at three new posters for “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

In one photo, the webbed hero is seen lounging on a riverbank wearing headphones. “Homework can wait,” the caption reads. “The city can’t.” In the second, the foreground shows the hero hanging onto Avengers Tower, while the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center linger in the background. “Straight A superhero,” the caption says. Finally, Spidey is seen latched onto a sign for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The “Spider-Man: Homecoming” Twitter account sent out the caption, “Quickest way to get home.”

Studio71 Hires Exec To Oversee Scripted Content Push

Since merging with Collective Digital Studios in January 2016, Studio71 has engineered a number of long-form projects. Now, the digital media company has hired an exec with Hollywood experience to continue its charge into new frontiers. It has brought in Michael Schreiber, formerly of Tapestry Films, as its first ever Head of Scripted Content.

At Studio71, Schreiber will work on high-profile projects that will be released through both digital and traditional platforms. As one of his first tasks, he will oversee Lifeline, an upcoming feature film produced by Studio71 partner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s company. The cast for that project, led by Zach Gilford and Sydney Park, was recently announced.

Beyond Lifeline, Studio71 has several more scripted projects in the works. It revealed several of the programs in its pipeline during its 2016 Newfronts address.

Casting Announced For YouTube Red’s ‘Lifeline’ Series, Produced By ‘The Rock’

Following YouTube’s announcement in October that a sci-fi action series from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks, was in the works for subscription service Red, the video giant has now released casting details for the project, which is titled Lifeline.

Zach Gilford of Friday Night Lights and The Purge: Anarchy will star as Conner Hooks, alongside Sydney Park (The Walking Dead). Lifeline, which will consist of eight half-hour episodes, is about a group of insurance agents who are sent into the future to prevent the accidental deaths of their clients. Gilford plays a top insurance agent who has never missed a save, until Park’s character, a sixteen-year-old orphan, is put on his watch.

Matt Nix‘s new untitled Marvel drama continues to fill out its cast of characters, with Amy Acker joining the Fox pilot as the matriarch of a family with mutant children. As Kate Stewart, Acker has to deal with her separation from her husband (Stephen Moyer) while the family is on the run and meeting up with an underground network of mutants. Also joining the cast of the Bryan Singer-directed project are Emma Dumont and Percy Hynes White. Moyer, Natalie Alyn Lind and Jamie Chung were also announced as cast members in the last week.
