In a new interview with Collider, the filmmaker revealed that he envisions the show as bridge which connects Pacific Rim to Pacific Rim 2, while offering an exciting possibility for his upcoming feature At the Mountains of Madness.

The animated series is still in the very early stages, with the filmmaker confirming that they are meeting with Japanese animation companies and writers.

"We are right now in the middle of talking and negotiating with a few Japanese companies for the animation. We are talking to a couple of showrunners that have a strong animation background, [we're] casting the writers room. 7 Questions We Need Answered in The Blacklist Season 2

27 May 2014 1:28 PM, PDT | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Our tears are barely dry from all the casualties on The Blacklist's season-one finale, but that doesn't mean we're any less excited for season two. When we last left Red, Elizabeth, and everyone else, there were many questions hanging in the balance - like if Red is really Liz's dad - and exciting new roads to explore when the show picks back up this Fall. To prepare for next season, we've rounded up what we know so far and the questions we still have from the hints Ryan Eggold (Tom Keen) gave us and what creator Jon Bokenkamp has said. Is Cooper going to survive? "The movement and flicker of life that Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) saw in that last montage is certainly hope. . . . I think that was a hopeful sign for Cooper," Bokenkamp told TV Guide. "Him surviving in any capacity would have a real emotional impact, especially on Ressler, »

James Spader wonders aloud April 18, betraying his veteran status among younger castmates. Taking note as the star brainstorms blocking options are Megan Boone, 31, who plays FBI rookie Elizabeth Keen, and Diego Klattenhoff, 35, as agent Donald Ressler. Spader, 54, portrays enigmatic fugitive Red Reddington on NBC's The Blacklist, which pits his bad guy and the FBI against his roster of even more deadly threats. Averaging a 4.9 live-

'The Blacklist': The highs and lows of season 1

13 May 2014 2:14 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Mondays will be a barren wasteland without The Blacklist to fill them. The series was NBC’s breakout drama this year, earning it the prime after-Superbowl slot next winter. With an average of 14.8 million viewers, The Blacklist ranks fourth among scripted series overall and second in broadcast dramas for the young adults category.

The show’s whip-smart dialogue and golden ratio of satisfying answers to suspenseful questions make a solid structure to support its cast of characters. Naturally, James Spader, as the criminal mastermind-turned-fbi-informant Red Reddington is the shining center of this series. The Blacklist Ep. 1.16 “Mako Tanida” finally brings the show into focus

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 16: “Mako Tanida”

Written by John Eisendrath, Patrick Massett, and John Zinman

Directed by Michael Watkins

Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC

A major complaint often lobbed at The Blacklist is its seeming ignorance on its own progressing story and its frustrating attempt to give the audience just enough to keep them coming back for the next week, which irritates its viewers more than it actually intrigues them. Compare that to a show like Lost, a show that habitually denied its audience satisfying answers, was able to get away with that, for the most part, because the characters and the story itself were so fascinating that it almost didn’t matter that there were things no one understood, because those supplemental elements were enough to make up for it. The Blacklist doesn’t have that; it just has James Spader in the lead.

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 14: “Madeline Pratt”

Constant negativity and pessimism is seldom a good thing. Even in the worst that the world has to offer, there’s a sliver of something well done or praiseworthy or, at least, not outright terrible. That’s where The Blacklist comes in. It’s not a completely terrible show. If it was, writing these reviews would be much easier. The fact of the matter is its quality is incredibly nuanced and is hardly ever constant. Sometimes it’s up and others it’s agressively down. It’s a show that few would hesitate to define as “bad”, but its positive moments still abound, perhaps not plentiful, but enough for notice.

Perhaps the most interesting, and disappointingly unexplored, aspect to “Madeline Pratt” is the revelation/tease that Keen (Megan Boone »

Red (James Spader) exploited Lizzie’s (Megan Boone) desire for a child and sent her on the hunt for The Cyprus Agency, No. 64, a sinister adoption agency. Lizzie and Tom (Ryan Eggold) appear to be on track with their adoption plans while somewhere, a drugged woman wearing nothing but a hospital gown stumbles into the streets and gets the attention of a policeman. A man in a van pulls up and tries to take the woman with him, claiming she is his sister. Unconvinced, the policeman heads to his squad car as the woman mumbles about somebody taking her baby. The Blacklist, Ep. 3.12: “The Alchemist” continues its bad streak

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 12: “The Alchemist”

Written by Anthony Sparks

Directed by Vince Misiano

Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC

If ever there was one word to sum up The Blacklist, that word would have to be frustrating. It’s not frustrating for the fact that it’s bad; that would be understandable and even acceptable. No, The Blacklist is frustrating because it is occasionally good and even when it’s bad, glimpses of how the show could be good shine through and that might be worse. It’s almost as if the producers are taunting its audience with a look at how things on the show could be, but probably never will.

Ready to get back to work, but unwilling to go back into the FBI due to concerns that a mole still exists within, Red (James Spader) reveals another name on The Blacklist to Keen (Megan Boone »

The Blacklist Ep. 1.11, “The Good Samaritan Killer” frustratingly shows promise

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 11: “The Good Samaritan Killer”

Written by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier

Directed by Dan Lerner

Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC

When the new shows for fall 2013 were being announced, it seemed all but guaranteed that The Blacklist would the standout from the bunch. It had a great lead in the form of James Spader and a solid episodic premise that just might border on intrigue, but instead, The Blacklist proved to be consistent at one thing among others: disappointment. That was true for the first half of the season, at least. Could this new year mean a better, more improved show? It doesn’t seem likely.

Following the attack on the FBI safehouse and Red’s (James Spader) ensuing abduction and escape, the FBI are simultaneously searching for Red, who has gone Mia, and attempting to identify the mole inside the FBI that helped Anslo Garrick kidnap him. »
