A source told Now magazine that she’s looking forward to having a traditional celebration. “She’s so excited,” said the insider. “She’s got the presents sorted - the boys are into WWE wrestling and Harper’s getting a Santa romper suit. Victoria knows it’s a bit naff, but she thinks it’ll be cute. “David’s a massive prankster, so he’s in charge of secret Santa gifts for the guests.” © Splash News   »

The success of The Choir's military wives suggests we're losing our taste for malice TV | Jonathan Freedland

21 December 2011 3:03 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

No pantomime villain judges. And no losers. In the age of austerity we want shows that lift us up, not put us down

The battle for the Christmas number one spot is usually contrived nonsense, but this time it might just be saying something worth hearing. Following tradition, the bookmakers assumed the winner of this year's X Factor, Little Mix, would come out on top. But that hastily assembled quartet appears to have been overtaken by a girl group of a rather different kind: a choir of military wives, praying in song for the safety of their husbands serving in Afghanistan.

We've been told endlessly how shallow and materialistic, trivial and celebrity-obsessed, our society has become. It's another source of gloom, along with everything else life has thrown at us this year: earthquakes, war and scandal – all under a darkening sky of economic crisis. But this is the season when »

London, Dec 20: British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has compiled a Christmas cooking guide for David and Victoria Beckham.

The 45-year-old and his wife Tana are good friends with the couple and have spent the festive season together several times, but with the celebrity cook committed to hosting a live show this Christmas Day, he has prepared a series of tips to help his pals enjoy the big day.

'It's really sad that the two families can't spend Christmas together this year, not least because having Gordon oversee things in the kitchen always resulted in an incredible meal,' contactmusic.com quoted a source as saying.

David Beckham and His Boys Suit Up For the Sun Military Awards

19 December 2011 12:25 PM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

David Beckham posed with his oldest sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, at The Sun's Military Awards in London this evening. The show, which is held at the Imperial War Museum, honors the work of Britain's servicemen and women. David, Brooklyn, and Romeo weren't the only famous faces in attendance since their pals Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana dressed up for the event, as did a few members of the royal family. Princes William and Harry made an entrance in tuxedos while Kate Middleton stole the spotlight in a black velvet McQueen gown. It was William, Harry, and Kate's second activity of the day, after also sitting down for the Queen's annual pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace. The Beckhams arrived in England over the weekend and the family of five plan to spend the holiday in their native country. It's baby Harper's first festive season, and her birth in July was »

19 December 2011 1:30 AM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

David and Victoria Beckham and their four kids departed out of Lax's international terminal Friday night on a flight headed to London. The family of six touched down in the UK yesterday with little Harper snuggled safely, and warmly, inside her baby carrier. The Beckhams are in England for their annual holiday trip to spend time with relatives and famous friends like Gordon Ramsay. Next year David and Victoria may not have to travel far if rumors of their move to Paris are true. David has yet to say if, and where, he'll be playing soccer in 2012, though many think it's a possibility Becks could sign with France's St. Germain club. No matter what his decision it's bound to be a special holiday for David, Victoria, Cruz, Romeo, and Brooklyn as they prep for Harper's first Christmas. From career highs to the arrival of Harper, it's been a huge year for the family, »

Ash Mair named winner of Masterchef: The Professionals

15 December 2011 4:04 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Tasmanian 'culinary genius' crowned winner ending a season that has delivered more than three million viewers tuning in

Ash Mair has been named winner of Masterchef: The Professionals, ending a season that has delivered the show's best ever ratings, with more than three million viewers regularly tuning in.

After Celebrity Masterchef was dumped back into the daytime schedules this autumn, it might have seemed that the fans' love affair with the TV cookery competition was souring. The former primetime BBC1 stalwart, in which Kirsty Wark, Phil Vickery and Nick Pickard competed for the Celebrity Masterchef title, was downgraded to weekday afternoons.

But that was before Masterchef: The Professionals – a stripped-back-to-the-essentials version of the show, buoyed by the steely presence of the two-star Michelin chef Michel Roux Jr, which has breathed life back into the franchise.

Mair, 34, who comes from from Tasmania, was crowned winner over Steve Barringer, 25, and Claire Hutchings, »

This TV feast of Christmas cookery is too much to stomach

14 December 2011 5:11 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

The likes of Jamie Oliver are out in force to change how we eat at Christmas – but do viewers have an appetite for this glut of festive TV cookery?

In my house at least, Christmas dinner always runs to a certain routine. Dad picks and preps the vegetables, mum cooks the same meal as she's always done and I sit on the floor with my brother, playing with our new toys and desperately attempting to fend off the suspicion that we probably should have stopped doing this about 20 years ago.

Scenes like this probably play out up and down the country. The traditions vary from household to household, which is why every now and then you'll find yourself having a stand-up row about whether bread sauce is a required element or not, but they stay the same year after year.

Try telling that to our celebrity chefs. This year, perhaps »

The Simpsons Review: Breaking Baddies at the Methtaurant

13 November 2011 5:30 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

This week's "The Food Wife" stuck to the classic Simpsons storybook architecture, as a series of seemingly random events Marge, Lisa and Bart to start a food blog, "The Three Mouthkateers."

Unlike last week's random pair of unrelated stories, this stuck to one strong storyline and kept the craziness to the jumps in the single plot line.

Although the episode was loaded with guest stars, most of their appearances were underwhelming. The only two remotely memorable appearances belonged to Anthony Bourdain's bouncy ball adventure and Gordon Ramsay's dream swap.

The real strength simply relied on the show's core family, which is rare for The Simpsons. The only true supporting characters were Flanders and the Reverend at the X Cross Games, along with Comic Book Guy fittingly tagging along with the foodies.

Sure, Marge's jealous over Homer being the fun parent is a re-hashed family problem from seasons past. »

The Simpsons Sneak Peeks: Marge, Bart & Lisa Become Foodies Tonight

In tonight's episode of The Simpsons, entitled "The Food Wife", Marge, Bart and Lisa become professional foodies.  The episode begins with Homer taking Bart and Lisa to a video game convention as a reward for good behavior.  The kids have an amazing time, but Marge is understandably upset by how much Bart and Lisa consider Homer to be the "fun parent".  So she decides to take them for a Saturday excursion, which ends up being horrible.

On their way home, however, their car breaks down in the middle of an ethnic district of Springfield and they pop into an Ethiopian restaurant.  While they're hesitant at first, Bart, Marge and Lisa end up loving the local cuisine.  A meeting with some foodies in the restaurant lead the trio to start up their own food blog called “The Three Mouthketeers".  Their blog »

'The Simpsons' to feature Anthony Bourdain, Gordon Ramsay and Mario Batali in buffet of chefs

It only seems appropriate that at some point binge eater Homer Simpson and noted chefs Anthony Bourdain, Gordon Ramsay and Mario Batali would overlap. Sunday (Nov. 13) is that day.

In "The Simpsons" episode called "The Food Wife," Marge, Bart and Lisa end up starting a food blog called "The Three Mouthketeers." Knowing that a certain husband of hers is quite the foodie, Marge has mixed feeling of whether to invite him to a high-end eatery. Enter Bourdain, Ramsay and Batali in a quirky dream sequence.

Later on in the episode, Homer does something dopey as he's wont to do. This ends up getting him in trouble with the law.

The episode airs at 8 p.m. Et on Fox. »
