[Note: We basically left out political stories from the list entirely, both out of a concern for brevity, and our own sanity.]

Trailer for Super Cheesy Romance 'Midnight Sun' with Bella Thorne

"I'm not comfortable with him not knowing..." Open Road Films has debuted an official trailer for a cheesy romance titled Midnight Sun, which is actually a remake of a Japanese film of the same name released in 2006 (Taiyô no uta). The story follows a young woman with a rare disease that, if exposed to the sun's rays, she could potentially die (kind of like a vampire but without any of the need to drink blood). Hollywood took this and turned it into a super sappy romance that reminds me a bit of Everything, Everything, also about a woman with a disease who can't leave home. Bella Thorne stars, with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Riggle, Quinn Shephard, Ken Tremblett, Jenn Griffin, and Nicholas Coombe. It looks super sweet. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Scott Speer's Midnight Sun, direct from YouTube:

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund Auctions Tom Petty Signed Rickenbacker

A new auction benefiting the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund is giveing you the chance to get your hands on a guitar made specially for Tom Petty.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Signed Rickenbacker

Rickenbacker created this guitar especially for Tom to sign in support of Sweet Relief, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind instrument. The exquisite details and custom finish have never appeared together on a Rickenbacker, and the vintage TV knobs, F soundhole and checkered binding were just of few of the incredible details that blew us away. On September 17th, Sweet Relief took the guitar to Kaaboo in Del Mar, CA for Tom and the Heartbreakers to sign, and Tom was so impressed with the guitar that he wanted to keep it for himself! Of course he happily signed the guitar and went on to perform an awesome set, closing the night, as always, with “American Girl.”

Perspective Look At The 12 Strong Movie – Chris Hemsworth And Michael Shannon Star

By Marc Butterfield (Analyst, freelance writer, veteran)

Until 1979, most of the modern world had never heard of Afghanistan as little more than a spot on a globe in the library. In that year, the Soviet Union sent special forces commandos in to raid the royal residence and kill the occupants, installing a puppet government. From that point forward, as a people and a place, they have rarely been Out of the news. To the British empire, Afghanistan was well known, but as Americans, we were ignorant of it. In fact, almost any country that has every tried to tame the Afghan territory has failed, and almost always after long, expensive, bloody campaigns. The lesson of futility was learned time and again.

Then, because of the Taliban, a product of soviet invasion and American intervention, acting as hosts of Al Qaeda, Afghanistan once again was put on the radar of the American people.

Family Who Lost 8 Relatives in Texas Church Shooting Files Lawsuit Against U.S. Government

A couple who lost eight relatives in the Texas church massacre in Sutherland Springs has filed a civil lawsuit against the United States government, alleging the shooter should never have been able to purchase the guns he used to kill 26 people on Nov. 5.

People confirms the filing, which states the Air Force failed to enter the killer’s name in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s database after he pleaded guilty to domestic assault five years ago.

The shooter — 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley — served at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, working in logistics readiness.

12 Strong Trailer #2 Puts Chris Hemsworth on the Front Lines of War

12 Strong Trailer #2 Puts Chris Hemsworth on the Front Lines of War
With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the second trailer for 12 Strong, based on the declassified true story of the Horse Soldiers, the first group of soldiers sent into Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. While there is not necessarily a direct correlation between these soldiers at the Thanksgiving holiday, the trailer opens with a brief segment that features bits of footage with the messages, "Thankful for home," "Thankful for freedom" and "Thankful for family" before the trailer begins.

On our darkest day, they were our greatest hope. 12 Strong is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. How ‘Search Party’ Gets Darker, Funnier in Season 2 (Exclusive)

How ‘Search Party’ Gets Darker, Funnier in Season 2 (Exclusive)
Shows about the misadventures of twentysomethings are a television staple, but the TBS breakout Search Party -- with its sly combination of suspenseful thrills and tons of character-driven laughs -- is in a class all its own.

Alia Shawkat, whose rising profile includes work on Arrested Development and Transparent, plays Dory, the face of this ragtag search party. Dory’s restlessness to do something meaningful with her life leads her to look for former schoolmate Chantal Witherbottom after happening on a missing person sign at the series outset. She winds up dragging her reluctant friends into the search: her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend Drew (Stranger ThingsJohn Reynolds), her aggressively vapid-seeming besties Portia (Meredith Hagner, of Younger and Strangers on Facebook Watch) and Elliott (John Early, of the Wet Hot American Summer Netflix series and High Maintenance), and her ex-boyfriend-turned-journalist Julian (Brandon Micheal Hall, who also stars on The Mayor).

By the season one finale, the four friends

‘Office Christmas Party’ DVD Review

Stars: Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, Jennifer Aniston, Kate McKinnon, Courtney B. Vance, Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Vanessa Bayer, Randall Park, Sam Richardson, Jamie Chung | Written by Justin Malen, Laura Solon, Dan Mazer | Directed by Josh Gordon, Will Speck

Josh Gordon and Will Speck, co-directors of one of, if not The, greatest ice-skating comedy ever (Blades of Glory), re-team for another buddy comedy that once again mixes gross-out humour and heartfelt laughs – this time in a story set in the world of office politics. Think Animal House for the tech generation…

Reminiscent of the Seth Rogen flick The Night Before, Office Christmas Party is very much in the same vein: an ensemble cast in a crazy scenario, featuring raunchy comedy and some totally outrageous situations and it’s all set over the Christmas holiday season. It also shares a similar taste in songs, in fact the two films could
