The nature of sketch comedy means that anything can happen. It’s an inherent feature of the form, one that can lead to some truly transcendent weirdness and some pretty bland filler. Take Key & Peele, for example: By being a sketch show, they are able to do things like have a silent short commenting on the Trayvon Martin case and racial profiling, and have goofy things like the East/West Bowl sketches (“Everybody’s talking about Fudge”). But because anything can happen, this invites unevenness into a sketch show more easily than in other programs. The main goal of any good sketch show, other than being funny, should be consistency. Community Season 6 is adding some new faces to its cast. In an effort to make up for the losses of Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jonathan Banks (who was essentially a series regular last season), the comedy series has enlisted the help of Criminal Minds‘ Paget Brewester and Enlisted‘s Keith David as series regulars for its first season on Yahoo Screen. Paget Brewster, Keith David Join ‘Community’ Season 6

Community” will be making its season six premiere on Yahoo!Screen with some new faces. The comedy has added “Criminal Minds” vet Paget Brewster and “Enlisted” actor Keith David to the cast as series regulars.

Brewster has signed on to play Francesca “Frankie” Dart, a consultant brought in to help shape up Greendale, while David will play Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist looking to reinvent himself.

Brewster first guest-starred on “Community” earlier this year as Greendale’s It department boss, Debra Chambers. David has also worked with the series before, lending his voice as narrator to the show’s season three episode “Pillows and Blankets.”

While known for her “Criminal Minds” role, Brewster has comedic credits that include “Key & Peele,” “Drunk History” and “Modern Family.” David has also appeared in the CBS drama “Scorpion” and “The Bible,” and his voice has been heard on “Adventure Time,” “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” and many more. »

Plucky Community‘s sixth season, which will stream on Yahoo! Screen, has added Criminal Minds alum Paget Brewster and onetime Enlisted man Keith David as series regulars.

As reported by TV Guide Magazine, Brewster — who last January guest-starred on Community as Greendale’s It department boss, Debra Chambers — is formally boarding the series as a different character, college consultant Francesca “Frankie” Dart. David meanwhile will play Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist looking to “reinvent himself.”

The nominations for the People's Choice Awards 2015 have been revealed.

Mom stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney will host the ceremony, which will take place in January 2015.

Shailene Woodley picked up four nominations including Favourite Dramatic Movie Actress and Favourite Action Movie Actress. Her roles in Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars also saw her score two nods in the Favourite Movie Duo category.

22 Jump Street star Channing Tatum received the most actor nominations, getting Favourite Movie Actor and Favourite Comedic Movie Actor nods alongside a Favourite Movie Duo nomination with co-star Jonah Hill.

The Favourite Movie Actress category will see Jennifer Lawrence take on Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson and Melissa McCarthy. The Hunger Games star also received a Favourite Action Movie Actress nomination.

The Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy garnered the most nods as The People’s Choice Awards nominations were announced Tuesday. Each series nabbed six noms, with Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Castle and Bones clocking in close with five nominations apiece.

Other popular series named included Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory (four nominations each) and The Mentalist (three nods).

Jordan Peele Plans To Make Horror Movie Get Out

Jordan Peele has made his name in comedy, but a closely-allied genre is beginning to attract his attention. In addition to being part of Key & Peele, the actor intends to strike out on his own to work on the horror film Get Out, which he will write and direct.

In speaking with Playboy (via Collider), Peele talked a bit more about his foray into the horror genre, and the reasons behind it. Here’s what he said:

Hulu Expands Streaming Library

Hulu is expanding its partnership with Viacom in a deal that could translate into beefed up residual checks for actors. “I am excited to share the news that we are extending our partnership with Viacom—to continue bringing thousands of episodes from some of Viacom’s most popular series and a selection of kids content to Hulu,” Craig Erwich, Hulu’s head of content, wrote in a company blog post. “We will be adding top titles from Nickelodeon to our Hulu Kids offering that have never before been made available to stream on Hulu.”  New to the streaming service are “Invader Zim,” “The Ren & Stimpy Show,” “Drake & Josh,” and “Hey Arnold!.” Full seasons of “Key & Peele,” “Drunk History,” “Ridiculousness,” “Tosh.0,” “Kroll Show,” and “Inside Amy Schumer” will also be available under the new pact.  Moreover, the company is also bringing “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” in Spanish, according to the announcement. »
