Necessary Roughness Exclusive: Mehcad Brooks on Tk's Antics, Season 2 Drama

25 May 2012 9:34 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Earlier this month, TV Fanatic sent intrepid reporter Sean McKenna to the Atlanta set of Necessary Roughness. What did he discover there?

A few season two scoops from producer Kevin Dowling and, below, an interview with Tk himself, Mehcad Brooks. Read on to learn what it's like for the actor to play such a playful and dark character...

-------------------------------------------

Cocky. Ladies Man. Super Star.

These are just a few of the words to describe Necessary Roughness' football champ, Terence "Tk" King, but the actor behind the confident swagger is certainly more modest and humble when it comes to discussing his work.

Mehcad Brooks sat down and chatted about his character's journey for season two and getting the chance to explore a more dramatic take in addition to Tk's usual no care antics.

"Tk and I are really different. Like he, he’s not even a dude I would hang out with. »

Necessary Roughness Season 2 to Focus on Hawks Family, Mysterious Nico

24 May 2012 11:47 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Pull on your fan gear and your foam fingers... because football therapy is back in session!

Necessary Roughness returns for season two next week and picks right up after the dramatic Tk shooting, as the show delves deeper into the characters' personal lives, while also dealing with the football off-season, and of course, Dr. Dani's sessions with a variety of other athletes.

After visiting the spacious set in Atlanta, Ga (a football training facility, Dr. Dani's two story house and Tk's apartment) and checking out the season two premiere episode, I had the chance to sit down with some of the show's stars and producers to discuss what's in store for this USA series.

Necessary Roughness Trailer

Executive Producer Kevin Dowling was the first to spill on the new season's fine tuning, saying:

"I think it’s a pretty big decision to focus more on our team, on the Hawks family. »

DVD Review: Creature

Title: Creature Directed by: Fred Andrews Starring: Mehcad Brooks, Serinda Swan, Daniel Bernhardt, Lauren Schneider, Aaron Hill, Amanda Fuller, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Sid Haig Running time: 93/minutes, Rated R A group of friends traveling through the back country of Louisiana find an almost desolate tourist stop which boasts the legend of Grimley, a murderous Gator-man monster. Within the first two minutes, there’s full frontal nudity, so of course that reeled me in for a bit.  Then it gets a little boring with the group of friends who are taking one last trip together before one of them gets shipped off to Afghanistan. They meet creepy (per usual) Sid Haig  [ Read More ] »

DVD Review: Embarrassingly Bad ‘Creature’ Fails to Terrify, Titillate

5 April 2012 6:59 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – After a particularly long work day, I often find it difficult to coax my mind to sleep. That’s when I turn to Video On Demand for some free and immediate assistance. Most moviegoers would probably search for a familiar comedy or predictable romance to help their eyelids grow heavy in the wee hours of the morning. Yet my insomnia-remedy of choice will always remain FEARnet.

Nothing says instant catatonic coma quite like bargain-basement horror dreck. Titles like “Pinocchio’s Revenge” and “Brotherhood of Blood” are more effective than any dosage of Ambien or Lunesta. That’s because the vast majority of FEARnet fodder has an identical opening. A car full of lusty young adults is careening with carefree abandon down the road when an unexpected obstacle forces them to bunk for a night at the worst possible pla—zzzzzzzzz…

Well, this is … unexpected. According to TMZ, George Clooney‘s ex Elisabetta Canalis and Jackass star Steve-o were spotted visiting the Trust Hair Salon in West Hollywood this weekend; rumor has it the two have reportedly been hanging out for the past month or so. We know what you’re thinking: “Just because they have the same stylist doesn’t mean they’re canoodling, you guys. Maybe they just have the same kind of problem scalp!” Let’s not be naive, shall we? On an unrelated note, could someone check and see if Sarah Larson is currently dating Wee Man? We just got a powerful premonition the answer is yes.

In case you had forgotten, Elisabetta was last seen rebounding with Necessary Roughness hottie Mehcad Brooks this fall, after splitting with Clooney over the summer. Steve-o was last seen drinking Preston Lacy‘s exercise sweat in Jackass 3D. We guess »

Toothy New Creature DVD Art

10 January 2012 11:01 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Life has a funny way of turning things around. For the last few days I've been getting chastised for thinking that The Devil Inside was a decent little flick. Everywhere I turn I've been getting browbeaten. That's okay though. I have no problem taking my lumps and I stand by my words no matter what. Still, it's been kind of taxing, but then ... then I see a DVD cover that just brings a smile back to my face.

As reported earlier by my esteemed colleague The Foywonder, the insipid shitfest known as Creature, a film which is completely devoid of any redeeming qualities whatsoever and is widely consider as one of the most ill-conceived and costly mistakes in film distribution history, is hitting DVD on March 20th courtesy of Arc Entertainment.
