Apparently "just being Miley" doesn't cut it when it comes to Time Magazine's Person of the Year. On Dec. 11, the magazine selected its buzzed-about winner for 2013, giving the honor to Pope Francisover pop sensation Miley Cyrus. Cyrus, 21, had made it on the list thanks to her over-the-top antics, particularly her memorable twerk-tastic performance at the 2013 VMAs in August 2013. At one point, the "Wrecking Ball" singer was leading the online poll, but the racy star lost that public race -- in addition to the actual cover. Time contributor Howard [...] »
The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is always a rocking good time out on the runway -- and it looks as though it's a rocking good time backstage as well. Angel Cara Delevingne posted the above video to Instagram of herself and fellow Angels Joan Smalls and Doutzen Kroes getting their twerk on to "Bubble Butt."
"I was saving this a** video until last! Take it away @doutzen @joansmalls @victoriassecret check out the #VSfashionshow playing tonight! X," writes Delevingne on Instagram.
Speaking of twerking, that was not the only Miley Cyrus connection of the evening. Her song "F.U." was played during part of the fashion show and CBS bleeped out the letters F and U. Not the F-word, which is not in the song. Just the letters. Wouldn't want the impressionable 10 p.m. audience to be corrupted by foul language while they watch scantily-clad women strut their stuff, right? »

The 20th annual SAG Awards were unveiled this morning, but you’ll have to wait until January 18 to find out which films win what. Or, you could wait just minutes after the SAG noms were announced, when public service-minded MTV cut to the chase, naming The Best Movie of 2013. According to the experts at MTV, the No. 1 Best Movie of 2013 is: 1. Gravity. MTV’s picks are pragmatic, based on “buzz and consideration of the Awards Season horse races” as well as box office success — oh yeah, and “overall quality.” Gravity was not on SAG’s best-ensemble list this morning (though Sandra Bullock was, for female actress in a leading role). But MTV didn’t stop there — it named the Top 10 Best Movies of 2013: 2. This Is The End 3. Wolf Of Wall Street 4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 5. Iron Man 3 6. 12 Years A Slave 7. American Hustle 8. Spring Breakers 9. World War Z »

‘Tis the season to be twerking! At Jingle Ball in St. Paul, Minnesota, Miley mixed a little holiday spirit into her classic performance on Dec. 10. Dressed as a super sexy Santa, Miley grinded on her own version of Saint Nick, and chugged from a bottle in a paper bag during her performance.
After twerking with Santa at the L.A. Jingle Ball on Dec. 6, Miley Cyrus is now drinking with old Saint Nick! Miley sang a medley of her biggest hits at the Xcel Energy Center in Minn., while taking swigs from a bottle in a paper bag!

Pope Francis Named Person Of The Year

Pope Francis Introduced To World
“What makes this pope so important is the speed with which he has captured the imaginations of millions who had given up on hoping for the church,” Time said in its cover story. »

It’s been an interesting year in the music industry. With debates over sexism in popular culture reaching boiling point, the sexualisation of teen star Miley Cyrus causing shockwaves and some questions raised about whether couples should ever star in music videos together (they shouldn’t), there’s never been a shortage of topics to hashtag, tweet and blog about.
Of course, there have been many open letters written and piles of dirty laundry aired throughout the Twitterspere this year, but we have also witnessed the rise of another type of response to slightly ridiculous and contentious cultural trends. This type of response comes in the form of the spoof video, and in 2013 it seems like there have been more made than ever before.
The beauty of the parody is that these days, anyone can make a video on their smartphones, leading to all sorts »

The MTV's Artist of the Year was announced Tuesday, reports contactmusic.com.
"She is the third artist to receive the distinction of being named MTV's Best Artist of the Year with past honourees, including Katy Perry (2012) and One Direction (2011)," a statement by MTV read announcing the results.
Cyrus, 21, shot to fame in Disney television series "Hanna Montana", but this year seems to be the year she finally loses the squeaky clean teen image, as her performances, songs and wardrobe choices would suggest.
Below is MTV's top 10 artists of 2013:

I am just kidding about Taylor Swift — who could easily be a V.S. Angel if she dropped the mic, ruffled up some feathers, and listened a wee bit harder for the sound of a bell jingling on a passerby’s g-string.
Poof! Wings granted.
In fact, the only Angel who seemed to truly dwarf Taylor Swift, especially during the “British Invasion” opening number, was this Sexy Butterfly on Drugs a.k.a. returning champion Karlie Kloss.

When it comes to maintaining a career that anyone would be envious of, the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin is a pro.
She has been in the spotlight since she was 15 years old, and when she appeared on "The Talk" on Tuesday (Dec. 10), she had some advice for headline-dominating star Miley Cyrus and her recent antics.
"I think she's typical of one that's very young. She's having fun, she's doing what she wants to do," Franklin says. "But I think at some point she will have to sit and decide whether or not she wants to be viewed as what is called a legitimate singer or a novelty."

They're the girls every guy wants and every girl wants to be ... the Victoria's Secret Angels. And on Tuesday (Dec. 10), we got to watch them parade their nearly-naked bodies down the runway while Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, A Great Big World, and Neon Jungle performed during the "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show."
It's kind of funny how a lingerie company puts on a huge fashion show annually, seeing as how lingerie requires the least amount of fabric and creativity to create, but Victoria's Secret has rebranded what a fashion show can be by adding outlandish and visually stimulating costume ideas to the bras and panties. There were long, billowing skirts and huge, feathered wings added to the bras and underwear.
But here's the thing: They're still bras and underwear. There was more skin showing in this one-hour telecast than most networks would allow in an entire season. Just check out »
Kellie Pickler has one go-to, signature red carpet move, y'all. And it's the faux blowing-a-kiss move.
In looking back over more than seven years of her red carpet appearances -- beginning with Tuesday night's (Dec. 10) "American Country Awards," to the days when she was basking in her "Dancing With the Stars" Mirror Ball Trophy afterglow, all the way back to when she debuted her kissy-face pose on the "American Idol" Season 5 finale red carpet -- one thing is clear: Being in front of the cameras makes Kellie feel the love.
And we are so feeling it with you, Kellie. You can keep kissing at us forever and ever.
And ever ...
And ever ...
No really, we don't mind ...
We wouldn't be terribly disappointed if you occasionally mixed it up and gave us a little something like this, though (watch out, Miley Cyrus):
Who was the queen of sharp tailoring, who outshone Liberace and which baby eclipsed Harper Beckham? We present the style winners of the year
Donna Tartt appears to produce a novel a decade – and 2013 saw her third, The Goldfinch, released. With it, fashion rejoiced along with the literati: the author's razor-sharp bob returned for another moment in the spotlight. It really is a thing of beauty, one that gives the Queen of the Bob, Anna Wintour – and new convert Miley Cyrus – a run for their money. Tartt teams it with a proper look but unlike Anna, who loves a frock, Tartt wears her bob with tailoring almost as sharp as the plot lines in The Secret History. The result is the kind of disciplined, taut and clever style that the rest of us can only aspire to.

Remember, Miley Cyrus, it's not goodbye, it's see ya later. The pop star has packed up and headed out to perform for Kdwb's famous Jingle Ball concert (she recently hit the stage for the Los Angeles show), but she made sure to say farewell to her "babies" first. Cyrus posted a sweet photo of herself puckering up to kiss her dogs before she left to chilly Minneapolis. "I don't wanna leave my babies :(," the singer wrote on Twitter, before letting her fans know just how cold the weather is. "Freeeeeeezing," she wrote with a photo, and added (in case people didn't get the hint), "F--kkng cold." Unfortunately, Miley will have to part ways from her pups for a »
Every year brings us movies, music, and TV shows, new books, new artists, and new plays. But there are also new scandals and obsessions — fresh hubbubs that themselves become a form of entertainment. And 2013 was a banner year in that arena. Let's look back at some of this year's "lightning rods," the events and ideas and people we couldn't stop talking about.Miley Cyrus What happened? What didn't? There was no escaping Cyrus's reach this year. She's someone who has been the center of controversy for much of her career, but her polarizing performance at the VMAs in August — a hyperactively sexual and racially problematic extravaganza that our music critic Jody Rosen said "gave minstrelsy a modern, careerist spin" — took the cake. Will we, as a nation, ever be able to move on? Not really. More than the flap over her back-baring 2008 Annie Leibovitz photos or any »
