JP was born in Fargo, ND, but was raised in Moorhead, MN. Thanks to his
older sister JP fell in love with the horror genre, especially horror
films from the 80s like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Friday
the 13th which inspired him to pursue his dream of creating monsters
and gore effects for film. After High School, JP left the Midwest to
Pennsylvania to study Special Effects Make-up & Design at the Douglas
Education Center.
After graduating from D.E.C., JP moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his
career in the film industry.
In the spring of 2002, JP worked for a Halloween Costume shop called
Cinema Secrets as a Mold Maker while he started making contacts in L.A.
In the fall of 2002, JP worked as an Assistant on his first film, the
indie creature film "Aquanoids" for Cinemacabre productions.
In the spring of 2003, JP formed ZOMBI EFX, Ltd. Since forming ZOMBI
EFX, JP has worked on numerous indie horror films such as "Director's
Cut: a Killer comedy", "Wrestlemaniac", "Death by Engagement", and
"Risen". ZOMBI EFX have also done work on a few short films and music
videos.
In 2012, JP relocated ZOMBI EFX back to the Midwest and continues to
provide make-up effects for films as well as does custom made
prosthetics and masks.
