'This Is The End' Red-Band Trailer: Seth Rogen And James Franco Curse The Apocalypse

21 December 2012 9:11 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

by Hannah Soo Park

Forget "World War Z" and the slew of other stylish zombie-ridden films slated for next year, because Seth Rogen and company are busting out with their own post-apocalyptic adventure, and this one promises what the others don't — tons of laughs and really random celebrity cameos.

For their directorial debut, "This is the End," Rogen and Evan Goldberg — both of whom have had a hand in writing and/or producing a string of cult comedies, including "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express" — rounded up a few friends (of the funny, famous, actor variety, of course) to capture their would-be struggle for survival during the end of all days.

Check out a red-band first look at "This is the End" below! (Warning: not safe for work.)

Of course, a Seth Rogen movie wouldn't be a Seth Rogen movie without the raunch, this time delivered by the likes of Jay Baruchel, »

Rebel Wilson will emcee the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, the network announced Thursday in a “first look” trailer that aired during the Jersey Shore finale. Set to air on April 14, this is the Pitch Perfect star’s first time hosting, and the first time a woman has hosted since Sarah Silverman’s stint in 2007. On top of the delightful news that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are hosting the Golden Globes this year, we’re hoping the female comedian-as-host trend continues.

‘This is the End’, an apocalypse comedy with an ensemble of comedic actors, gets a trailer

20 December 2012 3:44 PM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

While Seth Rogen’s acting profile has noticeably risen over the last few years to firmly plant him in A-list territory, his writing career has also seen an upswing, as he has shared writing duties with frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg on films such as Superbad and Pineapple Express. For their next project, however, the screenwriting team has chosen to tackle the end of the world sub-genre of disaster movies. Titled This is the End, the project also sees Rogen and Goldberg share directing duties, marking both their debuts in the role. Rogen also appears onscreen, joined by Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, James Franco, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling, Paul Rudd, and Emma Watson. The first red-band trailer for the movie has now been released, and can be seen below.

This Is the End Trailer: It’s the End of the World As We Know It, and Seth Rogen and James Franco Feel Funny

20 December 2012 3:00 PM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

This is the Seth Rogen–gets-all-of-his-funny-friends-together-to-be-funny-and-act-like-the-world-is-ending movie. Some of those friends appear in the trailer (James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson) and are apparently the film's stars, others are alluded to (Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Jason Segel) and apparently die in the movie, and we'll have to hope the apocalypse doesn't come so we can see the rest (Aziz AnsariRihanna, Paul Rudd, Martin StarrMindy Kaling, etc.). Everyone plays themselves as they band together to survive the end of the world. Besides co-writing it (though the film looks like it'll be very improvised), Rogen and his usual collaborator Evan Goldberg are directing for the first time. If there's still a world filled with movie theaters and people who go to movie theaters, This Is the End (formerly titled Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse, The End of the World, and The Apocalypse) is set to »

First Red-Band Clip and Poster for Seth Rogen’s This Is The End Starring Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill, and Many More

20 December 2012 12:50 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first clip and poster for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's directorial debut, the apocalypse comedy This Is the End, has been released online.  It's perfect timing, as tomorrow may or may not be the end of the world as we know it, so keep in mind that this could be the only piece of footage from This Is the End that your eyes will see before an unholy Mayan apocalypse engulfs us all.  It'd be a shame if the world did end tomorrow, though, because This Is the End looks fantastic.  Rogen, Jay BaruchelJames Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride all play themselves in the aftermath of the apocalypse to hilarious results, with plenty of self-referential comedy to go around.  McBride in particular is excellent in this clip, and if this clip is any indication of what's to come then This Is the End will »

Staff Picks: Kevin Polowy's Top 10 Movies of 2012

18 December 2012 3:00 PM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Crafting a Top 10 Movies of the Year list always presents a little bit of a conundrum: Do you include the greatest films created, technically and artistically speaking, or do you go with the ones you simply enjoyed the most? It's the "best" versus "favorite" argument.

I tend to lean toward the latter and highlight the movies that had the most emotional impact on me, be it through laughter, shock, thrills or tears.

Maybe it also helps to give less heralded movies some shine. "Argo" is probably a better film than "Ruby Sparks." But honestly, I enjoyed "Ruby Sparks" more. "Argo" will be on everyone else's list, and you may not have heard of "Ruby Sparks" or "Searching for Sugar Man," movies you'd probably really like.

So here are my 10 favorite movies of the year. And hey, at least I can always cheat with some Honorable Mentions. "Argo" made it there. »

'Mindy Project' cast changes: Beth Grant back in, Stephen Tobolowsky still out

14 December 2012 1:59 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"The Mindy Project" continues to be a work in progress in its first season on Fox.

After last month's news that Anna Camp (Gwen) will transition from regular to recurring cast member and Amanda Setton (Shauna) will be leaving the show, "Mindy" has lost another character but gained two more.

Character actor Stephen Tobolowsky was written out of the show in last week's episode, "Two To One," when his rarely seen character Dr. Shulman abruptly decided to leave his practice and turn over management to Mindy (Mindy Kaling), Danny (Chris Messina) and Jeremy (Ed Weeks).

Dr. Shulman was played by "West Wing" star Richard Schiff in the original pilot, and seemed positioned to be a key part of the series. But after Tobolowsky replaced Schiff in the pilot, he only appeared in one subsequent episode -- October's "Hiring and Firing" -- before his own departure.

However, another character introduced in »
