August 1st Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Shin Godzilla, Colossal, Slither Collector’s Edition

31 July 2017 4:53 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

August’s home entertainment releases are off and running in a big way with this week’s crop of horror and sci-fi titles, as we have nearly two dozen movies coming our way this Tuesday.

Scream Factory is putting in overtime with a handful of stunning steelbooks celebrating three great John Carpenter films—They Live, The Fog and Escape From New York—as well as a Collector’s Edition of James Gunn’s Slither and the indie horror films Don’t Knock Twice and House on Willow Street (which they’ve teamed up with IFC Midnight for).

As far as recent genre movies go, Colossal, Shin Godzilla, and Phoenix Forgotten are all primed for their home bow on August 1st, and both Paramount and Universal are dusting off a bunch of recent titles on both DVD and Blu-ray, including Disturbia, The Machinist, Red Eye, and the unrated version of The Ruins. »

Bond 25: Seven Actors Who Could Be The Seventh 007

27 July 2017 3:30 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Liam Hoofe takes a look at seven actors who could take over the role of 007 from Daniel Craig

The recent announcement that the currently untitled 25th James Bond will hit cinemas in 2019 has once again raised the question as to whether or not Daniel Craig will be making his fifth appearance as 007, or whether we will be seeing the seventh screen Bond graces our screens for the iconic spy’s 25th outing.

Craig has been fairly vocal about his issues when it comes to playing Bond, with the actor claiming he would rather slash his wrists than play Bond again in the press build up for the release of Spectre. While the actor may not be that happy playing Bond, he has, financially, at least, been the most successful Bond of all time and those in charge would be crazy to let him go.

While rumours are circulating that Craig will reprise the role, »

Sdcc: Wonder Woman’s Saïd Taghmaoui joins FX’s Legion as Shadow King, Dan Stevens on Patrick Stewart potentially appearing as Professor X

21 July 2017 1:31 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Yesterday at the Hall-h panel for FX’s X-Men themed series Legion, it was announced that Saïd Taghmaoui, who recently starred in this summer’s blockbuster Wonder Woman, has been cast as the villainous Shadow King for the second season.

Shadow King was hinted at in the first season through various characters. FX describes him as a “villain with a thousand faces. In his real form, he is always nattily dressed. Dapper with a thin Clark Gable style mustache. His eyes forever hidden behind a pair of ornate sunglasses. He was hip long before there was such an idea. He can seductively hold court on any topic and in any language, but his true passion lies in the singular timeless notion of power and amassing as much of it as possible…It is rumored he is the spawn of the first nightmare, which is fitting because fear is his weapon »

Is Legion’s Dan Stevens Playing Doctor Doom?

21 July 2017 10:48 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Yesterday, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley wowed Marvel fans by announcing that he was working on a Doctor Doom solo movie for 20th Century Fox. Now, it looks like he’s bringing his Legion leading man with him for the project.

Bleeding Cool were in attendance at the show’s panel and are reporting that Dan Stevens is involved with the film in some form. Marvel fans will already known Stevens as Professor X’s son David Haller in the psychological superhero series – which is set in the X-Men universe – and to date, he’s been a big hit in the role, earning acclaim from viewers and critics alike.

The obvious suggestion here is that Stevens may take the lead role as the metal-masked Victor Von Doom. This would actually be a great casting choice, as not only is he a talented individual whose star is on the rise, but he »

From the moment Saïd Taghmaoui signed on to star opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman, the DC faithful cobbled together to draw up nine kinds of fan theories on who Taghmaoui would play in the Patty Jenkins-directed triumph.

It was only when Wonder Woman was ready to hit theaters that budding viewers identified Taghmaoui’s to be Sameer, a French Moroccan secret agent and master of disguise. But it seems the actor’s time in Hollywood’s comic book universe is far from over.

At San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, Fox confirmed that Saïd Taghmaoui will appear in Legion season 2 as Amal Farouk. Better known to you, I, and the patients of Clockworks Psychiatric Hospital as the Shadow King, Farouk spent much of the show’s inaugural season infesting the mind of David Haller (Dan Stevens »

‘Wonder Woman’ Star Saïd Taghmaoui Joins ‘Legion’ Season 2

20 July 2017 6:00 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Wonder Woman” star Saïd Taghmaoui will play Amahl Farouk — aka the Shadow King — in “Legion” season two. Noah Hawley, the creator of the FX drama series based on Marvel’s X-Men comics, announced the casting Thursday at Comic-Con.

“We are going to meet the Shadow King,” Hawley said.

The Shadow King was played in season one by Aubrey Plaza, who portrayed the character in the guise of protagonist David Haller’s friend Lenny, and Quinton Boisclair, who portrayed him as a monster who haunted Haller. Both actors will appear as those iterations of the character in season two.

The Shadow King was the only “Legion” character besides Haller taken from the Marvel comic books. All the other characters were original creations for the show. Executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who also produced Fox’s “X-Men” films, said that the character had originally been considered for a role in those movies. »

See How Disney Has Transformed Their Animated Classics Into Live-Action Blockbusters

It's a tale (almost) as old as time. When it comes to Disney, reinventing its animated classics with a live-action twist is its go-to way of attracting modern audiences. Take Beauty and the Beast for example. Thanks to Emma Watson's picture-perfect portrayal of Princess Belle (plus Dan Stevens and every other A-list actor's voice lent to the enchanted objects inside Beast's castle), the 2017 update earned a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide at the box office.  Money talks, right? All those dollar bills, paired with the nostalgia factor that comes with seeing childhood heroes in a brand new light makes reaching back into the Disney vault a no-brainer. The Lion King, Aladdin »
