James Wan, who co-created and directed the original Saw, has been set to direct Nightfall, the film adaptation of the graphic novel, reports Deadline. The film is a coproduction between Scott Mitchell Rosenbergs Platinum Studios and William Stuarts Aurora Productions. The premise: a man is sentenced to time in a prison run by vampires. The graphic novel was published in 2007 and written and created by Scott O. Brown with art by Ferran Xalabarder. Wan will oversee the development of a script. His latest film, Insidious, plays in the Midnight Madness program at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. "The minute I heard the concept, I was in," Wan said. "Reading the graphic novel cemented that. Like Saw, its a simple concept that, if executed properly, will be so cool." Platinum Studios is still in post on their adaptation of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. »

Casting speculation is all the rage these days, and some of it will no doubt be pure fanboy wish fulfillment but there’s few rumours flying around with the same potency of expectation as this one.
Putting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crushed Promise aside for a moment there are few stars with the same box office and fanboy appeal as Harrison Ford. With his patented world weary gravitas and rough voice Ford can step through the minefield of his recent terrible movies with a resilience that will draw our attention if he is connected with a new film.
And that film may just be Jon Favreau’s adaptation of the Scott Mitchell Rosenburg comic book series Cowboys & Aliens, an exercise in alternate history where Aliens land in the Wild West, sounds like perfect movie adaptation fodder doesn’t it?

Looks like Olivia Wilde will continue to work in the fanboy world. With Tron: Legacy opening later this year, THR reports that Wilde is in negotiations to star alongside Daniel Craig in the Jon Favreau-directed comic book adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens. Craig recently took over the part of mid-19th-century gunslinger Zeke Jackson from Robert Downey Jr., who departed the movie to make a sequel to Sherlock Holmes.
Wilde will play a character named Ella, who joins Zeke in an uprising against an alien invasion in Arizona. Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing the movie and co-wrote the script alongside Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. They've revealed that the movie will be different than the comic book created by Scott Mitchell Rosenburg. Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard are also producing the movie.
