It’s a match made in action heaven.
“When I got the job to write the [MacGyver] pilot, I always thought that the two shows existed in the same world,” Peter Lenkov, executive producer on MacGyver and Hawaii Five-0 tells Et. “I was hoping that one day we could do something like this.”
In the crossover episode, the story kicks off when Lucas Till’s MacGyver and his cohorts catch word that help may be needed to aid in earthquake relief efforts in Hawaii. That’s when they meet Hawaii Five-0’s Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono (Grace Park), who are trying »
From almost the very first time TV’s new MacGyver whipped out his Swiss Army knife, a plan was afoot to eventually cross over the freshman CBS drama with its lead-out, Hawaii Five-0 — as will happen this Friday at 8/7c.

The secret agent and the slave drama get rebooted. Plus: young Noah has defied the odds
Angus MacGyver was the mullet-sporting 1980s secret agent with such a pathological aversion to firing guns he would bodge together non-lethal weapons from whatever junk was at hand. In this unnecessary reboot, X-Men: First Class graduate Lucas Till dons Mac’s traditional scuffed leather jacket to thwart international terrorist threats via improvised science, with ex-csi hunk George Eads as his bromantic backup. Harmless, mildly self-aware fun. Graeme Virtue

Chicago – A four year old walks into a room with a great idea for a movie, and unfortunately his father is president of a “motion picture group.” Millions of dollars and four years later, this child’s idea became “Monster Trucks,” one of the strangest movies ever conceived.
The father was Adam Goodman, who in 2013 put the green light on the picture (the story may be a bit exaggerated, there are other reports that Goodman merely observed his son playing with trucks, and came up with the concept himself). Filming began and was wrapped in 2014, and then the slow painful slog of the movie Paramount Studios didn’t want to release started its painful journey to the 2017 debut in January (Friday the 13th, appropriately enough). The result is a overworked and strained effort to deliver the descriptive, “trucks are powered by actual monsters.” Aimed toward the kids, but also »

Often times, if two movies are less than $1 million apart when the box office estimates are released, those movies will swap places when the actual numbers arrive on Monday. Last weekend, it looked like Rogue One would repeat atop the box office with $21.9 million, with the expanding Hidden Figures following just behind with $21.8 million. When the actual figures were released on Monday, Hidden Figures ended up on top with $22.8 million, just ahead of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with $22.06 million. This weekend, Hidden Figures managed to expand even further, repeating atop the box office for the second weekend in a row with $20.4 million, in a weekend where two more expanding movies didn't even crack the top 10.
This weekend, both the true story adaptation Hidden Figures and Rogue One went up against three new movies, Paramount's Monster Trucks, Stx Entertainment's The Bye Bye Man and Open Road Films' Sleepless. There »

First, a confession: I was almost rooting for Monster Trucks to be bearable. Why? Because Paramount Pictures, which is releasing the film, took a $115 million write-down against anticipated losses before it even opened. It's like having your parents write off your college tuition because they know you'll never amount to shit. Talk about lack of faith. So what a kick it would be if this family film actually turned out to be fun, right? Dreams can come true, kiddies. Just not this time.
