Our quick thoughts: Jaume Balaguero’s horror thriller “[Rec]” hasn’t even screened in the United States yet, but Hollywood is ready to roll out the remake “Quarantine,” which opens nationwide Oct. 10, 2008. A new full trailer popped up over at Yahoo!, and you can check it out just above.
Directed by John Erick Dowdle, this new version centers on TV reporter and her cameraman who are trapped in a Los Angeles home that has been quarantined by the Cdc after the breakout of an unknown virus. Jennifer Carpenter, Columbus Short and Jay Hernandez star.
While the teaser gave you an idea what this film is really about, I think this new trailer already reveals too much. I know previews have to look all suspenseful and action-loaded to shock and attract enough viewers, but come on, give us a break and let us discover the flick ourselves.

Yahoo has posted a brand new theatrical trailer for Quarantine (the American remake of the fantastic Spanish film [Rec]), which stars Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) and Jay Hernandez (Hostel). Quite frankly... I don't know what the hell these marketing people are thinking?! I just watched the original Spanish flick [Rec]. (Look for my First Look Review this weekend.) It's one of the best horror films I've seen in years. Yet, having already seen it, I advise you strongly Not to watch these trailers for Quarantine, because... well, they give everything away!!! Perhaps some changes have been made for the American remake, but judging from the trailers, this looks like a shot-for-shot remake and I'm shocked that they'd give away as much as they are in the trailers, and even the theatrical poster. You have been warned! Click Here for Yahoo's trailers. Or Here to watch a teaser to [Rec] from our previous news post.

Aith picked up the newest trailer for Quarantine and it raised some new questions. We know that everything is shot from a news cameraman's equipment, but the entire film looks pretty steady and in HD. Maybe all the complaints via Cloverfield-sickness made director John Dowdle opt for a less shaky film?
In any case, Jennifer Carpenter looks beautiful and this remake appears to up the violence a bit, which is certainly welcome. I just hope the ending is different or we're given a better explanation about what's going on as far as the infection goes.
Check out the trailer below and get Quarantined on October 10th nationwide.

Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Quarantine has been pushed up from October 17th to October 10th, 2008, no doubt to give the flick some distance from Saw V's October 24th release. Quarantine, directed by the Dowdle Brothers (The Poughkeepsie Tapes) and starring Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter and Hostel's Jay Hernandez is an American remake of the Spanish flick [Rec]. (See previous post about that Here!) Looking forward to this one!

Today Universal Pictures announced May 29, 2009 release for Sam Raimi's newest horror venture, Drag Me To Hell, which is an original tale of a young womans desperate quest to break an evil curse. In other release date news, Sony Screen Gems has changed the date for the Dowdle brother's Quarantine, the remake to Spanish horror film [Rec]. Originally slated for an October 17, 2008 release, the film will now hit theaters everywhere on October 10th. Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown.

My cousin just got an import copy of the Spanish flick [Rec] and swears its one of the best horror films he's seen in years. (We're watching it together this weekend, so hopefully I'll agree!) I’ve been hearing some mixed things about John Dowdle's Quarantine recently, but I can’t help but be curious how he pulls of this remake of Rec (review), one of the most-loved horror films in recent years.
Sony has plans to release Quarantine on October 17th, and over the weekend the first poster art for it showed up at Cinema Expo in Amsterdam. Film 1 got a good snap of it, which you can see on your right. Not sure how I feel about it, really; I mean there’s no way they could get away with something as simplistic as the Rec poster was, but did they have to have so much damn explanation on the poster itself?
Ah, I’m just being picky. Jennifer Carpenter screaming is what sells this poster, we all know that. Audiences want to see women in peril, right? Right!? Especially when

One of the best shows on TV is getting ready for a third season this fall and casting is underway for new addition. It was reported this evening that Jimmy Smits isn't straying far from Miami, signing on to join the cast of Showtime's hit serial killer drama Dexter. Smits will star in ten of the 12 episodes greenlit for "Dexter's" third season. Show returns to the paycabler this fall. He is set to play the ambitious assistant district attorney who comes from a high-profile and powerful Miami family. On the show, a like-able Miami police forensics expert Dexter (Michael C. Hall) moonlights as a serial killer of criminals who he believes have escaped justice. Jennifer Carpenter (Exorcism of Emily Rose) also stars as Dexter's sis Debra.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that actor Jimmy Smits will be joining the cast of Showtime's Dexter for the upcoming 3rd season, which is scheduled to premiere this fall! Dexter (my favorite show on TV) stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst by day, serial killer of other killers by night. Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Quarantine) plays his sister Debra. According to the article, "Smits will portray Miguel Prado, an ambitious, charismatic assistant district attorney who comes from one of Miami's most politically powerful and beloved families."
"Dexter (Michael C. Hall), a blood-spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer, will join forces with Prado, who has risen in the ranks because his aggressive stance against crime, in the pursuit of a murderer who affects both of their lives directly."
"Smits will be featured in 10 of the third season's 12 episodes,
