Older brother of Mark Purcell, accomplished singer/songwriter in
Boston, Massachusetts.
Served in the U.S. Marine Corps (1976-1979).
While in the Marines, a parachute jump on a windy day over Camp
Pendleton went wrong. He thrilled civilian on-lookers by nearly landing
in the bleachers. Instead, he crash-landed on top of two parked cars
just behind the bleachers.
While attending Cape Cod Community College (4 C's), a girlfriend talked
him into working as a fashion model in the widely promoted, first ever
"Man About Town" fashion show and contest. Doug was voted and crowned
"Mr. 4 C's" 1982.
