After he was convinced that Liverpool wanted him out, his move to Chelsea looked inevitable. But after the manager confirmed that Liverpool wanted to keep Gerrard, he shocked Chelsea with an amazing U-turn and again stayed with Liverpool. He committed himself by signing a new contract keeping him at Liverpool for another 9 years.
