The third series of unsettling tech anthology series Black Mirror will be released on Netflix on Friday the 21st of October...

As if 2016 wasn't delivering enough unsettling real-world events, six new episodes of disturbing tech-based anthology series Black Mirror are on their way this autumn.

Fancy indulging in the most potentially traumatising 'binge-watch' of all time? Then fill your (existentially perturbed) boots. Black Mirror, formerly a Channel 4 property, is now a Netflix joint, which means that the third series will be released in its entirety on the same day.

That day is Friday the 21st of October. You have been warned.

Netflix has also released some episode titles and casting info for the third series, as you can see below:

San Junipero features Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis in an episode directed by Owen Harris

Shut Up and Dance features Jerome Flynn and Alex Lawther in »

Last year, the streaming giant Netflix announced it was bringing another beloved TV series back from the dead, with a revival of the critically-acclaimed British show Black Mirror. Original series creator Charlie Brooker is coming back to write the new episodes, and serve as co-showrunner with Annabel Jones, with new cast members Bryce Dallas Howard, Malachi Kirby and Alice Eve already on board to star. Today we have word that the show's creative team has a new edition, with 10 Cloverfield Lane filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg coming aboard to direct an episode of the series.

Netflix has ordered 12 new episodes of Black Mirror, all of which will be written by Charlie Brooker, although no details have been given regarding the story. Deadline reports that Dan Trachtenberg joins Joe Wright (Pan) and Jakob Verbruggen (House of Cards), who have already signed on to direct episodes of the new Black Mirror revival. '10 Cloverfield Lane' Director Dan Trachtenberg to Tackle 'Black Mirror' Episode for Netflix

29 April 2016 6:56 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

'10 Cloverfield Lane' Isn't Your Average Blockbuster Sequel (Review) Netflix's "Black Mirror" adaptation has been getting together an excellent roster of talent over the past couple months, including filmmakers like Joe Wright ("Atonement," "Hanna") and Jakob Verbruggen ("Code 37"), and now Deadline reports that "10 Cloverfield Lane" breakout director Dan Trachtenberg will be joining the fold to helm an episode. This marks the first major career move for Trachtenberg after earning stellar reviews for his mystery box thriller this past March. Given the way he expertly calculated tension and grounded a science-fiction story in as much reality as possible, Trachtenberg seems like a natural fit for "Black Mirror."  Based on the popular British anthology series of the same name, Netflix's "Black Mirror" will similarly feature dark and satirical stories that explore society's »

"10 Cloverfield Lane" director Dan Trachtenberg is set to helm an episode of the "Black Mirror" reboot on Netflix. He marks the third major director to hop onboard the episodic anthology series which will also have episodes done by Joe Wright ("Atonement") and Jakob Verbruggen (BBC's "The Fall").

Charlie Brooker created and penned the series which taps into our collective unease with the modern world. Each stand-alone episode is a suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia with seven episodes done so far for British television.

Netflix announced last year plans for twelve new episodes which will be handled by the same writers and producers. So far the likes of Bryce Dallas Howard, Malachi Kirby and Alice Eve are confirmed to be appearing in the new batch.

Netflix Alum Madeline Brewer Boards The New Season Of Black Mirror

8 April 2016 2:59 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Netflix has delved into its own talent pool to fill out its upcoming season of the awesomely creepy anthology series Black Mirror, hiring Madeline Brewer for an unspecified role on the show. Brewer’s previous credits on the streaming service include Orange is the New Black and Hemlock Grove.

Since Black Mirror reboots after the end of each episode, she won’t have quite a long stay on the technology-infused series, netting the role of a female lead for just one episode. She’ll star opposite Malachi Kirby (who’s on the new Roots adaptation) in an episode directed by Jakob Verbruggen.

Besides a title, “Men Against Fire,” no information was given regarding the specifics of the episode’s plot. Given the history of Black Mirror though, you can probably expect it to be some kind of trippy, horrifying, clever send-up of our modern dependency on technology.

Emmy spotlight: 'London Spy' stars Ben Whishaw, Charlotte Rampling & Jim Broadbent bring humanity to spy thriller

18 March 2016 12:10 PM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

Imagine "Looking" as written by John le Carre, and you've got a pretty good idea of "London Spy," a five-hour British miniseries that tackles queer themes through the prism of a spy thriller. It's written by Tom Rob Smith and directed by Jakob Verbruggen, both worthy of Emmy consideration -- it's visually stylish, tensely paced and features deep dialogue scenes that are almost hypnotic in how they draw you into story and character -- but I'd like to focus on three actors who I think are key to the story's success: Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling. -Break- Subscribe to Gold Derby Breaking News Alerts & Experts’ Latest Emmy Predictions Whishaw has become the kind of actor who makes me excited for a project just by virtue of being in it, having given a wide range of performances in the last five years that I've almost uniformly liked. The Many Seductions of 'London Spy'

19 January 2016 6:00 AM, PST | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The scene that caused a minor furor when "London Spy" (BBC America) debuted in Britain comes 26 minutes into the series premiere, but by that point its first seduction is already long complete. In fact, the knot of limbs in which Danny (the brilliant Ben Whishaw) and Alex (Edward Holcroft) consummate their unlikely attraction is all the more beguiling for being held, for a time, at arm's length: by a chance encounter, a quiet breakfast, a day spent along the shore. Sex is integral to "London Spy," created and written by the novelist Tom Rob Smith and directed by Jakob Verbruggen ("The Fall"), only in the sense that our most intimate acts necessarily intersect with the wider world—even, or perhaps especially, when we wish to keep them secret.
