Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios has acquired North American rights to the Keanu Reeves sci-fi thriller “Replicas” for $4 million. Alice Eve (“Star Trek Into Darkness”) also stars in the film, which is directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“The Day After Tomorrow”) from a script written by Stephen Hamel and Chad St. John. After a car accident kills his loving family, a daring neuroscientist (Reeves) will stop at nothing to bring them back, even if it means pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force and the physical laws of science themselves. »

Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios has shelled out $4 million for North American rights to “Replicas,” a thriller with Keanu Reeves and “Silicon Valley” star Thomas Middleditch, Variety has confirmed.
The film centers on a neuroscientist who tries to replicate his family after they die in a car accident. Reeves produced the film along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Stephen Hamel. Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“Traitor”) is directing the picture, which also stars Alice Eve (“Star Trek: Into Darkness”) and John Ortiz (“Kong: Skull Island”). Hamel wrote the film’s story and Chad St. John is credited with the screenplay.
The deal was hammered out at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was screening for buyers, though it is not in competition.
Reeves had a box office dry spell post-“Matrix,” but has rebounded a bit with the “John Wick” films. Allen’s company has moved aggressively into the film space in recent years, unsuccessfully »

Replicas takes place after a car accident kills the loving family of a daring neuroscientist — who will stop at nothing to bring them back.

Keanu Reeves will return to New York Comic Con next month to promote his new film Replicas, where the first footage will be shown from this impending sci-fi thriller. An original fight competition series called The Bruce Lee Project, produced by a joint venture between the production firms of Keanu Reeves and Lee's daughter Shannon, is set to launch in India and the Middle East.
With competitors training at The Bruce Lee Center, the series will feature training drills and challenges inspired by quotes and philosophies of the late martial arts icon, the companies said Wednesday.

Zhu Zhu will star in the remake of the cult German thriller.
Based in Beijing with an office in Los Angeles headed by Julien Favre, Road Pictures is also co-financing Andrew Niccol’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Anon, starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried, with Germany’s K5 Media Group. The film is currently in post-production for release later this year.
Road Pictures also announced several new projects at the Bjiff event including The Diamond Age, an adaptation of Neal Stephenson’s cult sci-fi novel, produced in association with Lauren Selig, Barry Levine and Mike Bundlie, which is being scripted by Karl Gajdusek.

On the first day of the Berlin Film Market, Lionsgate has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Keanu Reeves starrer Rally Car. Reeves is a busy man these days; enjoying a second lease of life as an actor, the Matrix star is jumping from one project to another, finding plenty of success with the likes of John Wick – its sequel is due for release this month.
And now Reeves is boarding another project, starring in the aptly named Siberia, a film about an American diamond trader who is engrossed in a passionate relationship in a Siberian town while battling against the dark forces of the diamond trade.
Filming is set to get underway this year and the project will be helmed by the director of Frank & Lola, Matthew Ross. The screenplay has been written by Scott Smith who penned the movie A Simple Plan. »
