Trivia

Former two-time UFC Light-Heavyweight champion and three-time UFC Heavyweight champion. He is the only man to win the Light-Heavyweight championship twice and the only man to win the Heavyweight championship three times. He also has three successful defenses to his credit at Heavyweight.

First fighter to hold championship titles in two different weight divisions in the UFC.

MMA record is 16-8-0 as of UFC 74.

Won the light heavyweight title at UFC 44 by defeating Tito Ortiz.

Lost UFC LightHeavy Weight Championship to Chuck Liddel at UFC 52

Before mixed martial arts, Couture enjoyed a successful amateur wrestling career with such accolades as four World Team member spots, 8th place at the 1997 World Championship in Poland, Pan American Games Champion, four-time National Champion in Greco-Roman, and three All-American honors in college, including two runner-ups for the national powerhouse Oklahoma State.

Came out of retirement to win UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 68 in March 2007, defeating Tim Sylvia via unanimous decision.

Defeted Gabriel Gonzaga by TKO in the 3rd round of UFC 74: Respect.

Broke his left arm just above the wrist while blocking a high kick from Gabriel Gonzaga. Not expected to fight again in 2007.

Has left UFC because of supposed issues with UFC President Dana White, even with fights left on his contract.

Wrestled at Oklahoma State University.

Lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Student of World Muay Thai Champion Quentin Chong.

Coached High School Wrestling in 2004 for centennial High School In Gresham, Oregon.
