With spoilers for season 4, we look at how Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. turned its lengthy run into a good thing instead of a drag...

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season 4 finale, World’s End. It will be re-promoted at a later date for those viewing at UK pace.

22 episodes is a lot to fill, and the first season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. arguably fell prey to this network-mandated issue. Forgettable filler instalments where the gang investigated a mysterious thing were commonplace, which felt like an excuse to kill time before the main villain of the season – the utterly unmemorable Clairvoyant - showed up.

But the show has been on an uptick since then. Appearances from Jaime Alexander’s Lady Sif livened things up, »

Last Week’S Tweets: Is The World Going to Hell Because ‘Hannibal’ Got Canceled?

"Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." - Enter 'Madame Hydra'

2 April 2017 11:00 AM, PDT | SneakPeek | See recent SneakPeek news »

Sneak Peek your first look @ 'Madame Hydra' (Mallory Jansen) leader of the world-wide criminal organization 'Hydra', debuting in the mid-season premiere of "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.", April 4, 2017 on ABC:

Jansen previously played the characters 'Aida', the 'Life Model Decoy' created by 'Dr. Radcliffe' and as 'Agnes Kitsworth', Radcliffe's former lover.

Madame Hydra has no superhuman abilities but her strength, speed, reflexes, agility, dexterity, coordination, balance and endurance are on the order of an Olympic athlete.

She is a swordswoman and markswoman with most long range weapons, and has extensive training in hand-to-hand combat. She also occasionally employs poisoned weapons with snake-motifs.

"Since we’re bringing back 'Hydra' in the 'Framework'," said series executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, "we thought we’d bring it back with a force to be reckoned with.

Exclusive: 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Ushers in the 'New World Order' With Sinister New Poster

3 March 2017 9:00 AM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has entered the darkest timeline.

In a shocking series twist, last week’s episode ended with Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) as the only remaining humans among their S.H.I.E.L.D. counterparts after a Life Model Decoy takeover. The two then entered Dr. Radcliffe’s Framework in order to save their fellow agents -- who have all been replaced by LMDs -- revealing an alternate reality that turns the S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘verse on its head.

Among other surprises, in the Framework’s skewed reality, Daisy is still dating Ward (Brett Dalton, who S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen recently confirmed is returning to the show), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is a billionaire with a mystery woman on his arm, Simmons is dead, and May (Ming-Na Wen) is revealed to be Hydra, riding an elevator »

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 14 Review – ‘The Man Behind the Shield’

16 February 2017 2:02 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Danny Hale reviews the fourteenth episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4…

‘The Man Behind the Shield’ saw our team launch a rescue mission to retrieve Director Mace and Agent May while we were also granted a great look into Coulson and May’s past and their initial encounter with the Superior, Anton Ivanov.

From the instant we saw May (reserved almost exclusively for the flashback) it was clear that this was a story from before the events in Bahrain. This realisation was heart breaking; this was a May who was younger, more innocent and not relentlessly plagued by guilt. We’ve been told many times how Bahrain and the moniker of “the cavalry” have affected Agent May and this glimpse at her past harshly highlighted just how much she shut down after her encounter with that Inhuman girl. It only lands the more powerfully after our recent glimpse »

Patton Oswalt Returning To Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. As The Koenigs, New Clip From "The Patriot"

13 January 2017 8:44 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

In a fitting announcement, Entertainment Weekly has revealed that Patton Oswalt will be returning to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Sam and Billy Koenig. Oswalt debuted on the show as Eric Koenig in the first season, who was murdered by Hydra agent Grant Ward. Season 2 introduced his identical brothers, Sam and Billy, also played by the actor. Given the characters' eerily identical looks and vocal greetings, many fans have theorized that the Koenigs were actually Life Model Decoys, which have now been officially introduced in the show's fourth season. Could this mean the Koenigs will be confirmed as Lmd's? Showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have teased that something will be revealed: “Patton Oswalt returns as the Koenigs, and we finally reveal their family secret.”   Oswalt will return in the January 31st episode, "Hot Potato Soup", which will see Sam and Billy being hunted down by an unknown force in relation to the Darkhold. »

Fox's Gotham Will Have Another Hiatus But Will Return This Spring

12 January 2017 7:50 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Fox confirmed during the Winter TCA's that although Gotham is returning from midseason hiatus on Monday, January 16, the show will only continue to air new season 3 episodes for a few weeks, going back on hiatus on January 30.  That means there will only be three new episodes before another long break as the show won't return with new episodes until April 24. While multiple breaks and hiatuses occur every Fall TV season, kudos have to be given to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. team for how they're handling their network driven interruptions.  Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen knew that AoS was going to have three major breaks and thus, created three separate arcs (Ghost Rider, LMDs and a mystery third arc) to fit into each of their breaks.  It's something that has definitely worked well for that show as ratings have remained steady and ABC 's President recently stated that she feels very optimistic about a season 5 pickup. »
