Born in Tehran, Tina Gharavi is a BAFTA-nominated, award-winning filmmaker initially trained as a painter in the United States later studying cinema in France. Fearless in her approach to storytelling, and unafraid to cross borders and disciplines, her work has been broadcast globally while her installation works exhibited at museums internationally. Gharavi is noted for innovative cross-platform work, often with about the outsiders, rebels and misfits, and has garnered the attention of the film industry through her acclaimed 2013 BAFTA-nominated feature. I Am Nasrine, is currently on release and is a coming of age story of two teenage Iranian refugees.

Gharavi currently resides in the North of England and Paris. Gharavi teaches filmmaking at Newcastle University, lectures worldwide and recently made her first after-dinner speech.

She is represented by Roxana Adle at Independent Talent Agency.
