Dream Factory unveils talent roster

Exclusive: Organisers behind the two-day event set to run July 14-15 during the International Festival Of Business 2014 (Ifb 2014) in Liverpool have announced the line-up of guests.

The film event is set to take place at Liverpool’s Foundation For Art And Creative Technology (Fact, pictured), the arts and media centre located in the Ropewalks district that houses state-of-the-art screens, art galleries and a café and bar.

Liverpool-born Im Global CEO Stuart Ford and writer-producer Kevin Sampson have curated the programme in association with Pinewood Studios and UK Talent Management Firm Independent.

Day One is focused on creativity and comprises three on-stage conversations with directors that will see Get Carter director Mike Hodges in conversation with The Independent’s Barry Forshaw; Four Weddings and a Funeral and Donnie Brasco director Mike Newell in conversation with Ford; and the Liverpool-born director of The Awakening, Nick Murphy, talking to Sampson.

First look at What We Did on Our Holiday, the new family feature film from the creators of Outnumbered which stars Billy Connolly, Rosamund Pike, David Tennant, Ben Miller, and Amelia Bullmore.

Bobby Smalldridge, Emilia Jones and Harriet Turnbull star as the three McLeod children.

12 year old Emilia Jones (represented by Arg Talent) plays Lottie. Emilia was Alice in Channel 4's Utopia and played Young Fiona in Shrek in the West End. She is currently filming alongside Michael Caine in Italian feature film The Early Years.

Bobby Smalldridge (represented by the Sylvia Young Agency) played Small Boy in Billy Eliot in the West End and has filmed episodes of Miss Marple, Casualty and Topsy and Tim. He played the part of Samuel in the 2011 film, Foster with Ioan Gruffudd and Toni Collette.

The film also introduces newcomer Harriet Turnbull as Jenni, the youngest McLeod.

BAFTA unveils sixth Filmmakers Market

Highlights include a British producers’ masterclass with speakers including Damian Jones (Belle) and Kate Ogborn (The Deep Blue Sea).

The Sargent-Disc BAFTA Filmmakers’ Market – an annual networking and skills development event for first-time feature filmmakers – is to run its sixth edition at BAFTA’s London headquarters on July 5.

The event will comprise of a day of masterclasses, screenings, and speed surgeries to help improve creative and business skills, as well as offering advice to help to navigate and progress in the industry.

Highlights of the day include:

a British producers’ masterclass with speakers including Damian Jones (Belle, The Iron Lady) and Kate Ogborn (The Spirit of ‘45, The Deep Blue Sea);

a session on ‘how to find your cast’, presented by Rada, with casting director Des Hamilton (Nymphomaniac, This Is England);

a series of ‘meet the pro’ roundtable sessions, presented by Creative Skillset, with top craft talent, including costume designer Jane Petrie (Top Boy, How I Live Now) and former »
