It's pilot season, and the action behind the scenes is in full gear.

Until recently, Jim Caviezel, another TV Fanatic favorite, was tapped for the lead in a CBS Navy Seals drama that's underway. 

Today, it was announced beloved Bones star David Boreanaz stepped into the role. 

Caviezel chose to exit the project over creative differences.

David Boreanaz has landed the lead role in CBS’ upcoming Navy Seal drama pilot, taking over from Jim Caviezel, Variety has confirmed. Caviezel left the pilot over creative differences.

Boreanaz is best known for playing Seeley Booth on the Fox procedural “Bones” for its entire 12-season run opposite Emily Deschanel. The show is set to air its series finale on March 28. He also played the character Angel on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and his own standalone series.

He is repped by CAA, Visionary Entertainment, and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.

In the CBS pilot, he will play Jason, the respected, committed leader of his assault team who’s been through over a dozen deployments. He joins A.J. David Boreanaz has booked his first post-Bones role.

The actor has signed on to star in CBS' untitled Navy Seal drama pilot, replacing Jim Caviezel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Mad Men’s Jessica Pare joins Jim Caviezel in CBS Navy Seal drama

Jessica Pare, best known for her role as Megan Draper in the later seasons of Mad Men, has been cast as a series regular in an untitled drama pilot about the Navy SEALs for CBS according to Deadline.

The series also stars Person of Interest‘s Jim Caviezel and has been brought to the network by Justified executive producers Ben Cavell, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly as well as Shameless‘ executive producer Chris Chulak.

 

Pare will play Mandy, a CIA analyst described as “whip-smart” and “driven to rid the world of evil and get the bad guys”. The untitled drama will be about an elite group of Navy Seals training for and completing the most dangerous and high-risk missions across the world.

Cavell will write the pilot while Chulak is set to direct. The series will also star Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, and Toni Trucks. »

CBS’ Navy Seal drama pilot has found its leader. Familiar CBS face Jim Caviezel has signed on to the untitled project, Variety has learned.
